No urgent need to upgrade anyway. I've tried wp 7.5, ios 5, and ICS in recent months. Still went back to my BB. In fact, i just bought a 7230. hahaha.

I replaced my blackberry with iPhone 4s if their iOS 6 is kickass I'll stick with it but if bb10 really is awesome and it is offered by sprint I'll definitely pick one up 90 days after release.

Not any more.
- 06-29-2012, 06:17 AM #54
My next buy will be next spring when I move to the US to live.
Right now I am not sure if I shall keep my 9810 which is still a brilliant phone, buy a Windos 8 device if these are any good or, buy a BB10 (with keyboard) phone when these are released and IF they do not come riddled with problems or, as RIM has often done, release the product with bits missing from the OS and core apps. - 06-29-2012, 06:32 AM #55
I like the way people who were not waiting/already moved on are voting.

I know, eh?? It's as if everyone's 2 or 3 year contracts all ended at 5pm yesterday. haha.
My 9900 will serve me well until my 9900 N-Series arrives. I waited this long - I think I can handle an extra 3 months.
If, by chance, BB10 doesn't get released, then I'll probably jump ship to WP8.

I've only had my 9900 for about 10 months. I wouldn't get a new device for another 9 months so I don't view it as waiting. I love my 9900 and will keep using it until I feel I am missing functionality by not upgrading. When I do upgrade I fully expect it to be BB10.

Yep I ordered a Galaxy S3 today. So I'm answering the question; No I'm done waiting. I was willing to wait till later this year for BB10, but I'm not waiting another 6-12 months to upgrade my ancient 9300. All along I wanted a new BB phone. The OS 7 phones are lackluster, I've checked them out, I don't want one.
I love my PlayBook, and a phone with a similar UI would be great. But at tis point I'm done waiting. I doubt it will ever see a release (hope I'm wrong though). - 06-29-2012, 07:00 AM #59
Not everyone has a contract. I've never done that.
I've been waiting to see what happens with BB10 to decide where to spend my money on a new phone. Blackberry just knocked themselves out sadly, as did WP 7. I hate Apple, so it's Android for me, and the new Galaxy has great reviews. -

With the delay of BB10, all it did was make my decision easier. Come fall, I'll choose between Android and Apple. Spring of next year, if BB10 is good enough, I'll purchase out of contract.
I am not waiting until 2013 with a 2010 phone. Sure it works fine, but I need 4G, bigger screen, etc.I survived the Storm of 2008 and the PlayBook of 2011. - 06-29-2012, 07:09 AM #61
Although I voted yes to waiting for the physical keyboard version of the BB 10, I'm not going to wait to upgrade. I'm on the 9780 version and it's dying. So I'll have to upgrade to he 7 series 9900 ahead of time. Unfortunately it's a bit of waste of money pending Q1 2013. But I'll do it for BB.

uh uh, it just seems that way to people who do not pay attention.

People who have contracts, some for sure, probably more than I realize (on cb), have had their contracts expire (I have been without a contract since May of last year). It's not about everyone's contract expiring yesterday at 5PM, it's realizing that we don't know when exactly BB10 will be dropping. Q1 could be in March of next year, and I cannot wait that long, even if the date of release was carved in stone.Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum...

You're info says you already have one. But seriously I am not thinking about an iPhone or an android. If I saw a similar poll in those sections I would not vote because I already use something else and was not considering it any more than bah I'll look at it but doubt it.

I'm still enjoying my BB 9900 ... and I'll be getting a BB 10 when it comes out. Not sure about full touch or keyboard with touch yet.

For the moment I said "I don't know" for two reasons.
1st, the release is now potentially 9 months away and I don't know what will happen to RIM.
2nd, I want to see both devices before deciding. - 06-29-2012, 08:45 AM #67
This all made my decision much easier. My contract expires in October. I was leaning towards windows but was willing to give RIM a second chance. I am a user of technology and not a fanboy of any one product. Unless they eventually change the hardware spec's why would I keep waiting for something that may or may not show up and if it does may be on old hardware and probably be buggy.
My PB has been a huge disappointment and I'm still waiting for them to make that more useful.
Windows for me I think. - 06-29-2012, 08:47 AM #68
Yep. Have a 9900 and a 9360. Bought the 9900 first day, so I could have waited for BB10 (before the delay), but can't wait until 03/2012 for a new device. There's nothing wrong with either of my devices, but there was nothing wrong with my 9780 when I upgraded to my current device. Whenever BB10 comes out, I can always grab one. A device a year is what I usually end up doing.

Sure, I'll wait. I'm a year out from upgrade eligibility anyhow, so why not. If they don't make with the N-series, eBay is my friend.

"wait" ?
If I need/want another phone, I'll grab a new one.
Today, I stick to my 9900 (oops I almost wrote "beloved" ...).
Whatever I'll do before BB10 launch won't change the game. I'll get one ... or two !

What's interesting is only 40% said they would wait. 20% are undecided. And 40% are switching.
Assume 30% of undecided switch, we are seeing 46% total users switching from blackberry. And this is from the blackberry users who frequent crackberry and presumably have more than average love for rim.
I think blackberry is finished. The software side (bbm, bes, bis) will still be around but I doubt they will be making OS and hardware.
I have been a BB user since 7000 series (7210 was first blackberry). I have had 7210, 8100, 8320, 9000, 9500, 9700, 9800, 9780, 9900. In between, I've had iphones (all of them), nokias, androids, and even win mo. I always went back to blackberry. I would say I've been a loyal user and a fan. BUT, No more. I voted WP8.
I give up on blackberry.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I got a playbook when it was $600. What a waste of money. Rim has failed me for the last time. Tablet wise, I think I might give the Nexus 7 a try.Last edited by mech9t5; 06-29-2012 at 09:30 AM.

I was going to wait. My contract is up in December, so I thought I'd be right there with the new BB10 phones having been out a few months and some of the early bugs worked out.
But not now.
My 9800 has been a trooper, but RIM's decided to ignore the OS 6 phones for the past year and leave us with subsequent build releases that still has the SureType/multi-tap bug even in the currently available build 723. I had to go all the way back to build 526 to get the silly thing to stay in SureType mode typing on the reduced virtual keyboard.
The Galaxy S II that we got for my son is a great device. I haven't been pleased with some of the things I hear about the S III, particularly the screen, so I may go for the S II Skyrocket - for the LTE - when the time comes to upgrade.
But, the Win 8 phones may be out by then too. I may look at those too.
March of next year (if we're lucky - because I'm having my doubts about that too) is just too long to wait.
I struggled with my old Pearl 8100 for a whole extra year beyond the original 2-year contract waiting for the new Pearl when it leaked out that it was coming. Then, after it was released, it was another 6 months before AT&T even got the 9100. Once there, it was outrageously priced to NOT sell.
I went for the 1 cent refurbished Torch that I'm still using today. Glad I got it, but it's time to move on. - 06-29-2012, 09:29 AM #74
My contract is up in September, was willing to wait a couple of months but not into next year, will likely go with a Galaxy S3.
This has actually been caused by Rim trying to compete with the iphone and ignoring their other phones. I never liked the "traditional" BB form and started with a 7130 as it was more phone like. Went to a pearl then a pearl flip. The pearl flip was my perfect phone, when it died the flip had been discontinued and the torch was closest to my needs, the screen on the torch encouraged browsing and watching of videos but the hardware wasn't very good at it I am looking to have those aspects improved.
If they had never cancelled the Flip I would still be using one and claiming no need for browsing / multimedia capability. - 06-29-2012, 09:31 AM #75
Honestly yes.. BlackBerry is really working for me right now with its bridge functions, battery and data efficiency. It does everything I need to and switching would cost me more money and have me lose bridging with playbook, which is a big deal.
BlackBerry is very affordable for me right now so I see no reason to switch, and I'm hoping bb10 comes to market so I can check it out.
I've thought about switching since yesterday's news, but logically it just makes no sense for me right now. I can easily get my hands on a Nexus one with 1gb of data and pay nothing, but i don't see what I'm really gaining with that yet. I can afford to wait till bb10. If not, then that nexus one is all mine.
