With the release of the new and improved version of BlackBerry's flagship device, will the company finally prop up their marketing activity?

I would hope so, but with their track record of marketing right now, I wouldn't hold my breath lol..

    Marketing and BlackBerry.

Two things that don't belong together.

BlackBerry should spend all its marketing effort on the new slider: their last chance.

I doubt they ordered enough of these to make advertising worthwhile. It would probably take several months to order more even if there were significant demand. If they spend $50 million on marketing and end up selling a million units (which would be pretty stellar for a special edition of a existing model), that would be $50 per unit sold just for ads alone. That would quickly eat up any profit that this device would have. What's the point of taking the financial risk of making a phone that can only break even or lose money?

Which is not enough. Our boys need some *very* targeted TV spots, for example, during PGA tour events. When I see the ads watching golf, for banks, upper-echelon cars, Rolex, etc...it seems like a natural audience for a BlackBerry commercial that talks up it's security features and pro sumer type attributes, for example battery life.

It would be nice if BlackBerry made a good TV commercial for the Passport.

When CrackBerry says "Who's Kevin?" (or Keven), we do it with affection, not like those internet strangers saying "Who's Kevin?"

And BBM, if I may add...

But reaching out to your existing audience won't help you widen your market share.

Passport and Classic are niche devices, and it's sad that the vast majority of human mammals aren't aware that these products even exist.

I would guess it will be the same amount you saw from the original Passport, which was scarce.

He dared to pick up another device that didn't say Blackberry on it so many in here proclaimed him as a traitor and not worthy of CrackBerry.

What's improved? Same specs, different trim. Certainly not worth getting rid of my original Passport.

I'm quite sure I've heard that "last chance" since the Z10 release. Their "last" sure is plenty!

He has a wife... and a life.

And while BlackBerry holds a special place for Kevin.... he said many times that BlackBerry had one shot with BB10. I kinda doubt he want to be here at the end.
