Default Will u give up on bb by time you purchase your next phone?

I am just wondering how the rest of you feel about it. I paid full price for my bold 9700 about a month ago. I could have easily bought a samsung vibrant instead for the same price but I purposely chose the bold for its form factor, battery life, size and lets be honest here it is A DAM SEXY PHONE! I also knew that it didn't do video streaming and web surfing nearly as well but figured it did it good enough for me cause those aren't the first things I look for but they are nice to have. I also looked at the HTC 4g EVo at sprint and their samsung phones too. And after all this research I still went with the bold 9700, but I also told myself that this would be the last bb unless something brand new and drastic happens.

I am in no way trying to bash bb I love their phones they have the best form factor in my opinion but, and heres the big BUT the things that used to make bb stand out from the pack, well the other phones have caught up now they do everything just as good if not better (better in most cases) than bb does from an average consumers stand point (yes they will be king of the corporate world for awhile still). The only thing (and I am talking non corporate now) they still have over their competition is battery life, and physical keyboard in some instances (but not all).

I guess I am thinking that "I love my Blackberry, but come on do some thing anything or on my next smartphone purchase I will have to jump ship". I am trying really hard to not to leave and I am verry happy with my bold, but if they just keep making the same little ol' upgrades and not actually pushing the envelope well.....
I will probably upgrade again in a year, I was just wondering how many other happy for now bb users feel the same way if things don't catch up with the competition?

Deep down I am really hoping QNX will solve their issues on the software end, and that RIM will be free to keep making the beautiful hardware they are known for, let us pray for that!

Ok, here's my opinion. My 22 month wait period with TMO ends in October 2011, and so far my Bold has been great. I am eagerly awaiting for BlackBerry 6 to see how it works on it. In the meantime, I hope RIM either releseas the so-called Storm 3, a better Torch (Torch 2?), or a new, revolutionary, uberBerry like the Titan dream BlackBerry. I will also seriously consider whatever Android devices are available at the time.

In any case, I will still be enjolying my Bold like the day I got it.

I think my biggest issue at the moment is this.....

I've been a BB user for a few years now and, other than slow internet speed, I have been very pleased with everything it offers. I have been a Verizon customer for 19 years and would never change carriers. I purchased the Storm when it first came out and loved it except for the fact that it slowed me down while texting. So I sold my Storm and got the Tour for the qwerty keyboard, and again I am pretty pleased.

Now RIM has solved my problem and given us the Torch....touch screen with a sliding qwerty for my texting. However, Verizon jumped ship on the Torch which simply infuriates me. I absolutely will not change carriers ( the coverage is outstanding) and I've come to find that an unlocked Torch does me no good on Verizon CDMA. I'll be renewing my contract in March, where I usually upgrade my phone, and with no Torch available to me, more than likely I'll be awaiting the arrival of the iPhone to Verizon......bleh. But, I've heard many good things from many people about iPhone and that its texting is pretty good, so I guess we'll see.

I just don't understand RIM and Verizon's thinking process. They have dedicated BB users on the network who anxiously await the newest, hottest upgrades.... Then they burn their customers and tell us "No, you can't have the newest, hottest thing." And I really, really don't want to join the iPhone zombie horde.

So it's either hope and pray for another BB release to Verizon, or become an iZombie. It's really pretty sad.

I just got my Torch, and very much expect that I will buy a New Blackberry next year assuming QNX is released as on a candybar phone

really the competition will have to do something amazing to get me to leave blackberry, and the ONLY competition that is peeking my interest right now is Windows 7, but all of the Win7 phones they just launched don't even come close to appealing to me, So as it stands now, BB will be my next phone come next fall

Everyone's needs are different. I like my BB device and will get another BB when the time comes to upgrade. BB serves my needs very well. None of the other devices or OS appeal to me. Not everyone wants the most popular device/OS.

It is all dependent on the device being offered as an alternative.

I am not one of the mindless "this device for life" types. I spend my money on what
works best. Right now the BlackBerry does. If that changes, my dollars go elsewhere.

Yes. Well, yes in that I made the switch in September because I wasn't impressed with the idea of upgrading from Tour to Bold and keeping 95% of the same hardware.

I am not married to any OS, brand, or form factor, and I have no problem believing I may be back to BB someday. I will continue to evaluate what is available vs what my current set of needs happen to be.

Under my current contract from Bell Mobility I can't get a new phone with them until July 2012, however I think sometime next year I will have enough credits to get a new phone from a bit earlier so they keep me as a customer and to make sure I don't switch to Rogers or Telus. Now depending on what's about there I would look at the Torch 9800, however I have always liked the iPhone and might consider getting that.

I'm out of contract now(long story). The bold is filling my needs and I don't feel like signing a new 2yr contract right now. If I did go for a new phone now it probably wouldn't be a blackberry though. 2 years is a awfully long time and I feel blackberry is not what it used to be.

No plans to leave RIM here. Love my Torch, and my other BBs have served me well.

I've grown too dependent on the connectivity and messaging capabilities of Blackberrys to jump ship. I'm not opposed to changing if something is better, but Android devices have yet to meet my needs.

Majority of my group of friends recently switched to BBs so unless they change phones as well, I'm likely to continue buying BBs cause BBM is just too damn useful!

Not changing anytime soon. Although I have an Android device also, I'll continue to keep carrying a BlackBerry. Can't leave BBM and I love my keyboard & push e-mail.

I have two lines, because when I deploy I give my husband my spare phone with all my contacts. Or I let my always out of cash sister use it. My platform of choice at this time is Bberry. However, if something amazing comes out I will get it and keep my Blackberry on the other line.
Right now I'm really looking forward to the Dell Lightning, the 9780, and the next iPhone. All are possible as next purchases.
My main preference is Bberry, though. Not likely to leave soon.

I started out with a Pearl, then I waited for the Storm2 to come out. I have been VERY happy with my S2, and I predict my next phone will be the LTE Storm. I like the large screens of the Droid X, but just don't believe the Android O/S is polished enough to consider moving to that platform. BB just "feels" right, it is hard to explain, but I am very comfortable with its O/S. When I use my wife's Moto Flip or our son's Samsung Alias 2, it feels so awkward.

Personally, going nowhere. My Bold does everything I need. I've played with Droids and iPhones, can't be bothered. I still see many people jumping ship though because Blackberry does not have anything on the market that competes with the high tech touch phones. Non-business people that like Androids and iPhones have no reason to look at Blackberries. A new cutting edge touch phone from RIM is badly needed to lure back this huge segment of society.

I haven't seen anything yet that would prompt me to switch. I'm loving my BB 9650. I keep evrthing in this phone and would be lost without it. I quess my only gripe is that the software (compared to my last Phone-palm) is a little skimpy but I can live with that.

I want to stick with Verizon so it's going to depend on what devices have OS6 when I'm ready to get a new phone. I want to see wht OS6 is like before I make a final decision.
