10.3 will only be released exclusively to the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic phones upon release.

The Current generation of BlackBerry 10 phones; Q10, Q5, Z10 and Z30 will not get the 10.3 update, instead they will get the 10.3.1 update.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

Where the "EOL" discussion is happening has nothing to do with 10.3.x.

There is a rumor (from a source that's admittedly gotten other stuff right) that 10.4 will actually be 64-bit and will not work on devices that don't have 64-bit compatible hardware. The only device I know for sure won't have a problem with that is the new Passport (the Classic will likely be fine as well, we just haven't had a confirmation on the hardware yet).

Even at that, it doesn't mean that the older devices will be "EOL". Just as legacy BBOS is still seeing updates, BB10 versions prior to 10.4.x will continue to be maintained.

Everybody just close your eyes and take a deep breath. Nothing to see here.

We updated from 10.0 to 10.1 to 10.2 to 10.2.1... why not to 10.3?? What's your fear?? The phone is upgradable! There are some "Crackbarrians" already running a 10.3.xxxx leak here! Cheers.

But Apple released their iOS7 for non 64 bit devices, so why can't BlackBerry do that...?

Will be what you'll hear when it really happens.
Oth, the Z/Q10 will be 3 years old by that time, so that's totally acceptable.

But if they do that to Passport, Classic, Z30 and Z3 buyers, then they will burn down a lot of bridges of good-will, through that move.

No, you as a USER have a BlackBerry ID. You can't buy paid apps from the store without a BlackBerry ID. And your purchases are tied to you. If you move to a new phone, you can reinstall your apps.

You can't sideload a paid app. It's tied to the BlackBerry ID of whoever bought it.

PS - The search tool is as easy to use as any search engine. Easier in fact. I use it for finding key words in long threads and threads in specific forums. Problem is a combination of ignorance (folks don't know it's there) and laziness (folks don't bother to look for search feature or can't be bothered to look at search results).

Once more I beg the admins to pull posting privileges of all members until they complete a basic course in search function. Similar to BB10's start-up, where you must show you understand how to swipe up and down to continue to use the phone. All new members must pass through using basic search function in thread and in forum. In the very least think how much server space you will save not hosting tens of thousands of duplicate posts and thousands of duplicate threads!
