    Hello,

I was wondering which keyboard will the next blackberry device have?
The old 4 row keyboard or the 3 row revolutionary keyboard?

Well, considering the next keyboard phone that was announced is the new slider (coming out in the late summer/fall) and it's been shown to have a 4 row keyboard. I'm gonna say 4 row keyboard! Lol rumor has it that it will also be touch enabled like the passport.

    Can't wait!

I don't think we can assume that the slider is 3or4 rows of keyboard based on the picture that we saw in reference to get images seen from mwc in Barcelona. The picture may be a dummy device

I see. But, wouldn't that be inconsistent?
    First they discontinued trackpads.
Then, they reintroduced them again as well as the 3 row touch enabled keyboard.

Now it's good to offer a diversity of options to the consumer.
But then again, why go from 3 row to 4 row?
Why is user-familiarity not put into account?

    Sorry for my bad English

The Slider would have to be a 4 row as shown by the prototype.

As the physical keyboard is at a different level from the display, having a 4th virtual row would not work.

I think they might make the slider a 4 row, and maybe the next Porsche Design will use Victoria style 3 row, or one of the various other patented styles that surfaced recently, there's certainly enough markup to make up for it and it would allow further differentiation from the standard line of BlackBerry phones

    This ^. :-)

    In my own words:
Too much of a gap, also a "vertical" gap that would require you to lift your finger... so I say, 4 row!

I don't mind the Passport's keyboard on the Classic's frame if it means more screen real estate.

I sure hope not. I think the Slider has 4 rows.

Even more revolutionary - two rows.

I'd like a three row keyboard like the passport but with a twist, can the letters appear as they are needed? For example, have letters when typing and when you need characters the individual keys change and the letters dissappear so if you need numbers that's all you see. Take action of having the best keyboard on the market. Virtual physical keyboard!

3 or 4...but it's got to be touch enable, that's such a great feature, love it on the passport.

More people are familiar with traditional 4 row keyboard. Except Passport all pkb devices had 4 kb rows. So, user familiarity has indeed been taken into account!!!
