A while back I saw a post about a a wifi chip that will be placed in the sd slot and give the phone wifi? Is here any truth to this I can't find that post for anything. But I remember that everyone was complaining saying it wouldn't work because it would need it in the os but with the tour being re-released with wifi next year are there any possibilities of downloading that os and this being true and and maybe even working?

Those cards weren't manufactured by RIM. They won't work due to the fact that they would essentially require a "driver" to function much like a PC and thats just not possible with the 3rd party developer tools available from RIM. RIM would have to write the low level functionality to support such cards right into the OS, and I really doubt they would ever do that.
