Ok so if I go somewhere that I frequent alot, I do a wifi search to see if there are any available signals. If one returns, I name it where ever I am, and were good to go right?

Wrong! at my girlfriends moms house, she uses a netgear router. I searched, and saved, and the next day looked down at the grocery story, and above the time, it said "girlfriends moms". I was 60 miles away from my girlfriends mom house, but I did indeed have Wifi.

Apparently I was picking up the grocery stores wifi, (who also uses a Netgear router), and the phone automatically thought I was at my girlfriends moms

    Whats going on with this?

It also says "dads" at my friends house. (both use a linksys)

    Am I missing Something?

    Thanks

Those AP's have the same SSID so they will come up with whatever name you gave to that SSID.

You might want to set up some security on your girlfriend's mom's router. It sounds like it is providing an unsecure access point to their system.
