I just recently bought a Blackberry curve 8520 Pay as u go Orange & i was wondering what does everyone mean when they say you need a data plan for your wifi etc..?

You don't need a data plan to use wifi or browse the internet via wifi.

However, some applications won't work without a data plan. (or so I've been told.)
My carrier requires data plans so I don't know about this one.
