I saw something in another thread that sparked my interest.
    Can blackberries get wi-fi internet?

I know the Curve can. However, it is carrier-dependent. Unfortunately for you (and me), WiFi on the 8310 is not available with AT&T.

The 8120, 8320 and 8820 have WiFi ability.

"The Curve" is a very broad model series name of all 83xx device (8300, 8310, 8320, 8330).

    Not provider-specific, Model number-specific.
If your Model ends in xx20 - wifi capable.

Oh... So if I had an 8320 instead of 8310. So, can I buy an 8320 thru at&t?

This is the phone I was leaning toward at first, because of the WiFi. But then, since I was going to get a data plan anyway and wasn't ready to give up the camera, I wound up with the 8310. Glad I did...

Oh. so there's no real speed boost or anything like that with the wi-fi?
(I'm not saying I find the EDGE slow at all, I was just wondering if there was some benefit to wi-fi)

Yes, there is a tremendous speed boost with WiFi on the browser, over EDGE.

and of course wi-fi capability is hardware, not software... tear... i'll have to buy a whole new phone if i want it
