I can see owning more than one phone for enthusiast purposes but wanting to carry and use more than one daily, I don't understand the need or desire.

Because people with corporate phones don't want to use it for personal use and don't want to lose all their data, contacts and phone number if they switch jobs

Here in the USA I can't really seen it either if they are both personal devices.... but I know people that do it.
Now in some markets there are fees for calling between different Carriers, even within the same city. Many there have dual SIMS or even multiple devices so that they can make calls to different people on those other networks..... one Indonesian BlackBerry user said he had five different lines.

But when it come to a company owned phone and a personal phone, it is still the best way to keep things separate. BlackBerry and other EMMs are working to create a scenario where you could have just one device that would allow for a separation of personal and work. They even have ways of doing dual billing so you pay for your personal calls and data and work pays for their portion. Not sure how many IT departments will implement this or how many employees will trust it.... but it is becoming possible.

I carry one phone and have a 7 inch windows 8.1 hp stream 7 tablet with me for which I use the hotspot feature on my phone to provide data. My cell phone account allows me to use the 20gb however I need . Don't need to carry 2 phones.

Used to carry a BlackBerry for communication purposes and an iPhone for apps.

I can imagine one wanting the full potential of app stores without hickups and the comfort of a device with a virtual keyboard for communication carrying two devices.

Work doesn't support BB10, so I have a Galaxy Note 2 through them, and my Z10 personal line.

Also, work wants to scan and control connected phones, and I don't want that on my personal phone (Unless it is through a BES and has work+personal modes). Not an option, so not doing it.

I carry (more than) two phones for one simple reason: because I want to.

There are people who own multiple televisions, cars, pairs of sneakers or anything else that can be acquired. It's up to that person's budget and personal preference.

Yes, I read the first post. The OP stated that he/she doesn't understand the need or desire for more than one phone. It comes down to personal preference, which is what I stated in my post. One person may not understand another person's personal preference, nor does he/she have to, but it still exists and is a valid driver for (legal) personal behavior.
