I know I have posted a few times on here on which way to go with my next phone, and was all set to buy a passport until that fell through.

Again this has got me thinking.. do i splash the cash and go BB10 ?!? but what will the future hold.. any updates after march, security fixes, how long will they support BB10 for, and what native apps will they just start to fail?

I really don't want a droid even a blackberry one..

Since you stated that you don't like Android, you really should give Windows Phone a try or even an iPhone if you think you'll be using lots of apps. If you really want another Blackberry 10 phone, then you might as well go for it. Maybe if Blackberry notices the increased demands for Blackberry 10 phones due some hating the Priv's Android OS, this could encourage them to support it for even longer, but there's no guarantee or word on it.

Just because I love BB10 and I detest Android and iPhones I chose to buy a new Z30. I'm fairly sure it will be supported (security wise) for a few years so after that we know what "the market " decided. Windows phone doesn't appeal that much to me, in my company we had a lot of issues with them.

If you're happy with what BB10 offers TODAY, then by all means, get another. Don't expect any new features, and don't rely too much on Android apps, as the current Android Runtime will be quite outdated soon, if it isn't already.

Don't discount the Priv entirely. I too was sceptical, but have grown to love it. Once set up and customised, it is an incredible workhorse. It really FEELS like a BlackBerry.

Imo, going from BB10 to Windows Phone is just moving from one deprecated ecosystem with an uncertain future to another.

Yer BlackBerry 10 phone will not suddenly implode in the next two years. There are still older bb7 phones alive and well.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, get a leap. If you don't mind spending a bit more, get a passport. I don't know if you can still find any z30s left. If you have a lot of money and need a million apps, buy an iPhone.

We have just finished moving the family to Windows phone. We picked the Nokia 1520, 1320, and 920. All the old Samsung tablets and Z series phones went on eBay. We kept the old iPad around to FaceTime with the rest of her family who are members of the fruit cult but when it dies they will have to download Skype or something else.

After using an android tablet for work - and the old iPad 2 that my wife has running iOS9 - I think this is the most logical move from a user interface / experience perspective. Windows 8.1 is actually quite fluid and polished.

If security/privacy is the concern go with Blackphone. The Priv - which allows apps to data mine -is not an acceptable solution.

I did spend several months using Ubuntu phone but it just isn't ready for prime time.

Are BlackBerry users considered a "fruit cult" as well?
