As Kris mentioned, the Q can place calls just fine. The ones without the call capabilities are the Z10(STL-2,3,4) and the Z30 I believe.

One thing that will help you in the future is to know what Version number your phone is. STL100-1's are in Europe and are not LTE enabled. All other phones are LTE enabled and have different hardware than the z-1. My phone is a 3, and I am on AT&T. I believe your phone is a 4 because Verizon is cdma. So if a leak is for an STL 100-1, don't download it. If it is cleared for a 2, 3, or 4, then you are good to go.

You can go to settings then about and look down the list for your number. Make sure the selection bar is set to "category".

STL100-1s are not only in Europe, but elsewhere, in locations where carriers are not 4G / LTE ready, like many places in South America, for instance...
