Well I am in two minds. Buy the passport at a discounted price of INR 42K (USD 680) or should I wait for the next innovative blackberry? Anyone know when and what kind of a device is expected. Its feb and there isn't even any buzz. Classic was for the lost loyal base but what about the discerning customer who wants the next latest BlackBerry?

I don't think there is any new phones coming, cause the Passport is the best, no need for any more.

Your options (right now) are to either buy the Z30, Passport or Classic.
Or you could for BlackBerry to release in March the new hybrid with 16 Gb of RAM, 24 TB of internal storage and mind-reading technology. On a more serious note, you could wait one more month and see what they unveil at MWC...

Only 16gb of ram? Pitiful. This is why Blackberry is going broke.

Oh, new iphone7 with 1gb of ram still. Best phone ever, give it to me!

I've heard that the iPhone 7 will have 256MB RAM. 1 GB is way too much. Also, it will come in a 4GB internal memory version (with iOS taking 3,5GB) and it will allow the user to store up to 4.000 songs (fine print - encoded at 32 kbps)

Passport is a great option at this point. TBH it's unclear where BlackBerry is heading with their device business... as a all touch high-spec guy, I am probably a little bit in denial here by saying it's unclear... besides, even they are going to bring in new touch devices, the rumor is that the next one is going to be a low-mid range device... so if you are like me, Passport is a sure bet.

Oh yeah! Rumors said that the IOS 9 that comes with IPhone 7 is a highly optimized OS, it requires extremely low RAM usage 256MB of RAM, low CPU resources ( able to run with whatever cheapest and lowest specs mobile CPU, or any CPU you name it on earth), occupied only 600MB of space just like the Mini OS Linux and it is extremely fast. With this optimized OS, Apple can sell their devices with a high price and low specs (due to low RAM usage reduce RAM cost in hardware, any lowest end mobile processor 1 core is enough to run the OS in extreme speed) but performed extremely fast and efficient OS.

The IOS 9 will rewrite the history for Apple and crushes all the mobile OS including Android which is so resource hogging until Samsung need to put an Exynos Processor 4 cores or 8 cores or whatever, Ubuntu, Windows Phone, QNX.....

LOL, you do realize that the BB10 OS takes up almost 5GB of space on your phone and that it has to have 2GB of RAM for it to be able to even function right?

Yes, I am aware of that.
I've been on Cb for over 6 years (but i'm too lazy to participate) and I've used Android since its inception. I recently gave up on Google's child because privacy didn't exist and I got tired of flashing ROM after ROM every few days. I just posted that cause I dislike Apple and I was feeling cheeky.
Moreover, my Passport has plenty of space on board plus an SD card so even if the OS would occupy-8 Gb I would't care.

P.S.: You forgot the Z3, which doesn't have 2 GB RAM and it still functions. "LOL"

All I want is a Q10, or Classic with better specs for 2015. But I doubt BB will release anything of importance in early 2015.
