I deleted some emails from my gmail account from my computer, though they have not been updated on my BB. When do the servers resynch with the BB?

Also, after I check email on my desktop computer, my BB still indicates that the messages have not been read. Is there a way to set it up so that as soon as they are read on the desktop that the same messages on my BB are no longer flagged as not being read on the BB?
