I am new to BB but not completely lost.

Some days my 8100 eats the battery in just 4-5 hours, other times it lasts for 2 days.

Is there a "Task Manager" (for lack of a better term) to see what processes or programs are running?

Some place to kill the process or end the applications?

This is what happens for me:
To switch applications, hold the Alt key and press the Escape key. Continue holding the Alt key and select an application. Release the Alt key.

    It's more of an 'Alt-Tab' than a 'Ctrl-alt-del'

Its a good way to see how many programs you have open though! I have it linked to my left custom button

Which button combination will do this on the VZW Pearl? When I try the Alt-Escape it just switches my application. I don't see what programs are runing in the background.

Are you just pressing Alt& Esc then releasing or are you holding in Alt? If you just press & release it will switch to the first application on the list but if you continue to hold down the Alt key you can then scroll horizontally through the open applications.

    Hope this helps
