I'm male! and I do see a lot of females with BB aka (pearl) in the streets / public but I'd say nothing to with it being a business tool but men out number the BB owners 3-1. I'd say women are more in to cute stuff. As men are more into tech stuff IMHO.
As far as the site I don't know sometimes I can tell by the name but sometimes not. I see a lot of females in the pin sharing networking area
