The reason I'm asking is because the housing for sale on Ebay is A LOT cooler for the 9700, they have white - meanwhile the 9650 only has black! What are the reasons why the 9650 won't fit in that? I'm new to the BlackBerry game, but they look the same to me..

Physically they are different, you will be having a hard time putting a 9700 housing on a 9650 body. It won't work. Technically speaking there are differences as well (most notably the difference in supported network technologies: GSM vs. CDMA/GSM).

Thanks! What about a 9630 housing, same thing - wouldn't fit?

That's a bit tricky to answer. You see, the microUSB port has slightly changed its location and the Tour 9630 has a trackball instead of a trackpad. That leaves you with the battery door as the only usable piece of a Tour 9630 housing.

Oh I got it now, thank you! Any reason why there is such a lack of housing for 9650? It seems like most other models have much more of a selection.

It's still "new" I guess. Only recently did Chinese eBay sellers get replacement parts listed, so only time will tell before you get to see any white housing options etc

The 9700 its a better phone. Most people will only have to call T-Mobile for 2 or 3 replacements under warranty whereas the 9650 is on Sprint so people will need 8 or 9 replacements under warranty.

are you saying that a person will need 8 or 9 replacements when they buy a BlackBerry from Sprint?

Do you have any documented evidence that any warranty replacements of either device will be necessary for "most people"?
