Normally my gsm blackberry connects to 3G but sometimes for about a minute connects to 3g. What's the difference? The manual doesn't explain much about it. It also does not have the B logo next to it either.

You are not connected directly to Blackberry internet service.

Or so I'm told. When my 1XEV goes to 1xev I lose internet connection.

so I'm pretty sure I'm right.

3G with the B beside it means you are connected to BIS, and have coverage. When you have 3g, its just voice coverage.
