Currently the Z10 is the flagship and the latest in the BlackBerry family - hence the price tag (you can find alot of info/reviews on this device on crackberry.com)

However, depending on your budget you can get an older BBRY. The Bold 9900 is my personal favorite of the previous sturdy OS that BlackBerry always used OS7.1 (very stable). The 9900 has touchscreen and an excellent keyboard. Next in line would be the Torch 9810 (slider) if that's your preference!

Yea it's touchscreen (very good touchscreen) responsive and I love it! If you do want a non-touchscreen. You will have to look into the Curves. But they are lower end (hardware specs are less than that of the Torch and Bold)

Yes. I'm not into the touchscreen. Isn't there a modern blackberry but with no touchscreen? So I guess Curve is only my choice? Does Bold have non-touchscreens too that are better?

The Bold 9900 has the best keyboard out there. You don't have to use the touchscreen at all, it's just good to have the option.

Well cause i dont really find touchscreen amusing like whats the point. Or maybe because I find touchscreens expensive and I just want a cheap phone.

You can just use the trackpad to navigate. The touchscreen is a big plus but you dont gotta use it.

The bold 9900 has a touchscreen But you don't need to use it. I used it for scrolling websites and that's about it. There's no virtual keyboard, the keyboard is a physical keyboard. The best ever made.

And it's also cheap. 150-200$ on craigslist.

I'm partial to the design of the Porsche Design BlackBerry:

    It's not a BB 10 device, but it's gorgeous.

Bold 9900 or Curve 9360 are the two I'd recommend if you're looking for a cheap phone with a good keyboard. 9900 is a little more expensive than the 9360 but it would be worth it either way.

Ok so I can't buy 9900 cause it's expensive. So I'm crossing that one out. But it really looks good though.

    My choices are 9360, 8900, 9300, 8520, and 9220.
They're all cheap. But I can't decide what's the best. 9360 and 9300 have 3g. I dont even know what 3g is but i guess its better to have 3g?? 9220, 9360 are released in 2010-2011 which is good cause that means its new compared to the others which is released on 2008. (is it even ideal to use the release date as a basis for choosing whats a good unit?)

I'm bad at decision-making so I'd let everyone of you decide.

The Bold 9900 has full qwerty keyboard functionality, as well as a really good experience it's honestly the best legacy blackberry out there. You'll love it!

Between those one I'd personally choose the 9360. 8900 is way too old (still has the ball and no trackpad), so are the rest. 9360 is sleek and has the nice OS 7.1 UI.

The 9360 is pretty good! You can always compare with your needs on the device profile page on the BlackBerry website.

Cheers and good luck in finding your first BB device!

^ That's also a great choice, it's a Bold but also is cheap and offers a very good experience for you. Between the 9360 and the 9790 I would go with the Bold but if price-point is your main concern I think the 9360 curve is very viable and will suit your needs

    I wouldn't touch anything that doesn't have OS7, imo

9900 is a QWERTY keyboard phone with a touchscreen. and in my opinion the best Blackberry phone prior to the BB10 phones.

I'm planning to buy one but i have absolutely no idea what blackberry offers. I've been using nokia phones since i was born.
I just want a simple type phone and not those fancy touchscreen phones.
I've been google-ing for hours and they all look the same to me and I have no idea what's the best unit.
All i could think of is the 8520, 8900, and 9300. Cause they're cheap but I'm afraid there might be a better option. Like what even is the difference of curve to bold? Is Bold a more high-end unit?
Curves although cheap, can offer a great introduction to the BlackBerry experience. I currently have the 9300, but if you really want to see what BlackBerry is about, I would recommend picking up the Z10.

Thank you everyone! I guess I'll go with either 9360 or 9220.

Although I'm checking the user opinions and they keep on saying the battery life is short. That it only lasts 12 hours. Well I hope thats not true. The reason I want to buy a new phone is because my phone's battery only lasts for a day.

All the new phones (smartphones) battery will typically last you a full day if you're lucky... that's just how it is. Just plug it every night.
