What's the different between this setting in the profile options? :

-bbm alert
-bbm new messages

???

BBM = BlackBerry Messenger

- alert = receiving replies and PING
- new message = new message

a PING is an alert to get your attention...like on yahoo where they use BUZZ to get the persons attention on BBM they use a PING.

when getting a message that has a different alert sound...you can change the both of them to make whatever sound you want.

I take it to mean:

New message = you didn't have a conversation active with that contact, but they have intiated a new one

Replies = you have a conversation open/active and someone sent a new reply to it.

New message = new Pin message. It's like a text but using ur pin. Usually done by ppl not on your bbm list yyet.

Alert. Set an alert for when a contact becomes available. New message is for every message
