    I am not clear on what 3G is...Actually I don't know what it is. Does it make your service better?...faster?

    Mainly it's your data transfer speed. 3G offers a lot more bandwidth than EDGE. You also should be able to use data and be on the phone at the same time. And supposedly the voice quality is better over 3G.

    Those are the things I'm aware of, I'm sure there are others though.

    For which company? I'm going to assume AT&T since that's your carrier. Heres a link to a map of AT&T's coverage area.
