Can someone answer this question for me - I have owned BBs for several years; know BB pretty well - but I have never figured out exactly what "Level 1" is. Obviously, it sets a high level of importance to emails, or SMS messages, or whatever - but why does it have it's own "slot" in profiles like email, BBM, phone, etc. do.

Thanks in advance for an answer!

You already stated what a level 1 message is in your post. These are priority level emails, pins, BBM and other messages (sms, mms, etc) or one of the previous from what you consider a high level contact. The reason for it's own category is so that you can set a ringtone to distinguish these items from the normal items.

Thanks - great link, but the description:

You can use filtering on an email address to make messages from that address level 1.
In Messages, highlight but don't click an email from a person.
    Menu/Filter Sender
Name the filter: Patrick, for example.
    Leave everything else unchecked.
    Action: Forward
Then check "Forward with level 1 notification."

I tried this - but, when I click Menu, there is no entry listed for Filter Sender (ATT Bold with OS 4.6.0.67), nor does Forward provide an option to forward with level 1 notification
