Once to setup Bluetooth with a Sony demo head unit in a store, and once to add a BBM contact. Other than that it is fairly worthless since BlackBerry doesn't have any Apple Pay, Google Pay equivalent. Like BlackBerry 10, NFC on BB10 has a lot of potential, but unfortunately BlackBerry is too inept to unlock said potential.

I tried exchanging photos with a friend (Samsung Galaxy Mini, don't know which exactly). Interestingly that he could receive the files from my Z10 but he couldn't send files via NFC. There was no NFC share option...
We finally switched back to bluetooth to exchange our holiday pictures.

What's a VCR? Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
There's a definite upside to having kids around, they keep you young and can show you how NFC works. I'm sure I could figure it out but have never felt left out of the loop by not ever using it.

Me too. Bought some tags and fooled around, but having to unlock the phone negates any time saving for my uses.

    Posted via CB10
Unlock the phone? Why? I use tags all the time with my Rogers Passport. Use them to toggle Bluetooth and start my playlist in my car; turn off Bluetooth and turn on wifi when entering the house.

As for other NFC uses: payment at stores with UGO; Tim Horton app; sharing music and photos with other NFC devices (both BB10 and Android) and with my BlackBerry Gateway.

To use NFC the phone has to be unlocked. Tapping a tag with a locked phone doesn't work. My phone is usually locked, so if I have to unlock before tapping a tag that negates any time saving for most of my uses eg toggling wifi vs unlocking, swiping down quick settings.

I don't have any tags yet but when I get some, I want one in my car to turn WiFi off and Bluetooth on when I leave the house, and the opposite when I get home. Then one at my office desk to turn off Bluetooth and change the Profile (for notification volume) if that's possible.

If you go into the nfc settings, you can have the nfc work while locked. I have a tag on my dash to send a text to my child to let him know I'm almost home and to open the gate.

I have some bluetooth devices that are mimo that reconnect with nfc, so that's a plus. I havent really seen any pay options here in the states. Certainly wouldnt mind.

I use NFC payment at any merchants almost every single day (using UGO wallet app). Also, I use it to transfer pictures to my wife's Z10 and my son's Z10. NFC is useful in everyday life.

I have used nfc for file transfer, but honestly find it a bit buggy, even between BlackBerry phones. When it doesn't work I use wifi direct or something else.

I fail to see convenience over already paired Bluetooth devices as far as file and information sharing. Required physical contact between devices annoys me as well.

Nope, that's for NFC card transactions only. Not for tag use.
