There was one day just a couple weeks ago a friend of mine at work while we were on lunch break needed to call his girlfriend because he forgot his phone at home and couldn't figure out how to dial

"it wont work" as they slam their finger against the non-touchscreen
Or
"it's black" when the backlight times out after 30 seconds

199. For 8GB of storage (they say 6 actually usable). No Cameras, modified android. but you get free cloud services so someone can steal all your stuff that you can't fit on the device. It's also wifi only like the first gen playbook. Not worth the money. BB PlayBook is the better buy. :P
I've noticed that people just are not educated on the playbook at all. They know kindle. You can get the kindle app on your playbook and use it. But everyone always uses the excuse well I have tons of stuff on my kindle app and so I made my choice because of that. I just open the kindle app on my playbook and show them. It's lack of advertising and the stigma that BB just sucks. - 08-16-2012, 01:52 PM #33
LOL.
There are a couple reasons that educated people might pick the Kindle over the PB. I know it is trendy to pretend that people pick other tablets because, well, those poor people just don't see BB/PB advertising, but if one thinks hard enough -- honestly -- you could probably see why.
People are not stupid, and choice is good.

so what you're saying is... someone who buys a kindle fire because they have kindle is a better choice? When you could have over twice the space and cameras and do other things as well by going with a 16GB Playbook even. Or 250 and get a 32GB. or 300 and get a 64GB version? sorry but I'm not understanding where you're coming from on this one.

Let me preface my comments by saying that for my level of productivity, a tablet would not make sense. In other words, I have not yet found a way to justify owning a tablet just yet.
My point is simple. For a lot of people, picking the Kindle over the PB makes sense, particularly when you consider that hardware specs do not tell the whole story. Heck, the industry leading iPad does not have close to the best specs.
Thus, I hold that consumers search for more than just the cameras or processors. Overall functionality, for instance, is a big one for me. And by functionality, I refer to work and play. The Kindle has the advantage.
For a variety of reasons, I'd pick a rooted Nook Color over the PB for my specific work/play needs, and I know several tech-smart people who did the same. - 08-16-2012, 02:18 PM #37
"Who are you, and what have you done with Ed?" is what they'd probably say.
Because I never let anyone touch my 'Berry.Ed

Comments from my hockey team, 99% iPhone users by the way.
On my PlayBook:
What is that?
Where did you get that little iPad?
You only bought that because you're a fangirl, I heard those things suck.
Gee don't you feel smart for buying that on release day.
Haven't you heard they're going out of business, why don't you buy an iPad?
On my Torch:
Well I used to have a Curve so I know those suck. Why don't you buy an iPhone?
What is that?
Don't you know RIM is going out of business? You better get an iPhone quick before your BlackBerry stops working.
Wait, how are you playing music on that. That's not an iPhone.
Can you call the restaurant on your phone? Mine has no signal.
How the heck do you send a text message on that thing?
No real useful comments from them. I would allow them to try my devices but they refuse to touch them. There's no little apple logo on anything so I believe they are afraid. Then they call me a fangirl and I say, "Pot, have you met kettle?" - 08-16-2012, 03:22 PM #39ann.warner@mobilenations.com

I got this Torch 9810 with a silver aluminium battery panel.
"looks sleek"
"that's one beautiful phone!!"
"I want one too!"
"I didn't know BB's can be soo awesome!!" -----> with the touchscreen and keyboard and awesome explorer.
"The camera's way better"
All these comments, and I see a dialog bubble coming from my handset:
"sexy and I know it"

Those who use mine have always been very impressed, but then they say they didn't know a BlackBerry could do that, or they didn't know the Bold had a touchscreen, or that the apps that I have are actually on BlackBerry!
I think a lot of RIM's problems stem from - general consumers - lack of knowledge and general assumptions that a BlackBerry is "just for calls and emails". This I blame to the lack of marketing.
The Torch 9810 for example, its a great device for those who want a good size screen and a keyboard. Yet, I never once saw an advert for it. This is something that must be addressed.
The PlayBook was a flop because there wasn't even one advert I can remember seeing. - 08-16-2012, 05:00 PM #43

Oh totally.
Except when they break something. Then they come to me to see if I can fix it. Then I get to say:
"You dropped your phone in a puddle? Sorry, I'm smart but I'm no iGenius. Why don't you take the batterry out.... oh nevermind."
LOL, I no longer have any control over my sense of sarcasm because of them. - 08-17-2012, 06:11 AM #45
Here's my story
Friend: Hey Pal, finally I have my first iphone, it's free for $58 a month with unlimited internet access. But you need a cash out worth $93, cool huh?
Me: I only pay $23 a month on my Blackberry phone. Unit is free with unlimited internet access too. No cash out
My Friend: *Poker Face*
i Love that moment

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friend: Blackberry suck's, too much restrictions man look at my Android, I can play guitar, scan bar codes, I even have a metal detector app.
Me: I have an app that makes my Blackberry water proof.
Friend: Wait a minute, I think Android has one too.
This guy is so serious, only to find out I was only joking HAHAHAHA. - 08-17-2012, 07:29 AM #46
