    No advantage that I know of.... only reason we did it is because for a long time you could not directly install APK files.

    Best solution for running Android apps with most compatiblity is to use Cobalt's Google Play store.... as many Android apps will not run without Google Services.

    Apk2bar is just a wrapper. Technically a bar file is a zip file that contains the unmodified apk. It was needed in the early days of the Android runtime and it's still needed for developers to wrap their apk to put it to BlackBerry World.
