My carrier (AT&T) charges approx. 2 cents per kilobyte for data received while traveling internationally. I'm trying to figure out approximately how much this is going to add to my monthly bill when I'm out of the country for about 2 weeks.

Assuming I don't open any attachments and just read/respond to e-mails, does anybody know the typical size of an average e-mail?

    Thanks.

I would say it would vary anywhere between 7k (half page text only) to 30k (rich text with images etc). Most of the spam emails are around 6K. I hope this gives you an idea..

Each email is sent in 2KB 'chunks'. When you have to click 'more' to read a long message, it pulls down another 2KB.

Thanks for the response. So, for the most part, it will cost 4-8 cents per e-mail while overseas.
