Does it have to be continually kept connected on charge or can it hold a charge?

Probably would have a rechargeable battery in it

"Break away from your regular headsets and enjoy your favourite music throughout the comfort of your own home. This small, stylish device works with your home sound system or personal stereo to stream the music stored on your BlackBerry smartphone or other A2DP-compatible devices. To wirelessly transmit your music, simply connect the Gateway using the accompanying 3.5mm stereo cable or RCA auxiliary cable to your stereo system, turn on the gateway, pair your device, and that's it! You are free to roam up to 30 feet without missing a single beat. The BlackBerry Music Gateway is compatible with all Bluetooth enabled mobile devices so you can stream your music from your BlackBerry smartphone, PC, laptop, or any other A2DP-compatible mobile phone. This easy to use, ultra portable accessory is great for those looking to enjoy their music the way it is supposed to be heard. Please Note: A BlackBerry Travel Charger or other mini-USB charger must be used in conjunction with the Gateway to provide power."

Hmm, well, I don't have this device myself but would conclude from the same text that it doesn't have a battery but needs to be wall-plugged permanently

    I think you're right there

    Here's the BlackBerry PDF Manual:

The leads shouldn't be hard to get hold of.

I've got the charging cable and the audio jack, thanks for all the help! Hope in the future they could make one with an internal battery

You seem to imply that portability is important to you then.

This device is not so special as you may think.
There are quite a few portable variants existing today.
    To name a few:

    Nokia BH-221 http://press.nokia.com/products/medi...headset-white/

I have myself have a Sony Smart Wireless Headset Pro

It's not so much portability but just ease of use, I'll be using it mostly with speakers and it's just nice to be able to have it with a battery so I don't have to charge it all the time , I really like the design of it the way it looks the led so it is special to me, but i appreciate the alternatives,

Chargeable bluetooth headsets are not the same as this device. You need to plug this into your stereo and hence you may as well plug it into the wall. To bad they didn't produce a good push2tv device like Netgear.

Both the Nokia and Sony device can be wired up with a stereo via the head phone socket.

I am actually wiring up the Sony that way with my cars stereo so that I can play tunes from my phone wirelessly.

Looks technically fairly similar to what the blackberry device is used for I believe, but I might be missing something.
