There is a large amount of bad weather today along the US East Coast.
Just curious, has anyone on the east coast gotten one of those new Wireless Emergency Alerts on Your Mobile Device?

Nothing here in CT but we are expecting a line of thunderstorms a little later. As of now all we are showing are high wind alerts until 4pm

I get my weather alerts from Accuweather, right to my Vivid. The weather here in SW Fla. is nasty. Heavy rains and high winds. Time to break out the Jameson's.

Yikes! I had no idea! We have had a fair bit of rain here in SW Ontario but aside from that and it being a little breezy, (and a little chilly) we're good.

I hope everyone in the storm area stays safe!

Yeah, we have tornado watches here in the DC area, and a horrendous gust with rain just hit a while ago, tearing off a nearby tree limb.

Thanks. I will need to upgrade my device. My 9300 is not capable.

What do you mean your 9300 is not capable. With the appropriate app you should have no problem getting these alerts.

Today no, but I do usually get them such as when a tornado has been spotted.

These alerts are not app dependent nor do you even need a smartphone. You do not need to sign up or otherwise register for them.

I got one last night. It sounded a lot like the "This is a test of the emergency broadcast system..." messages you get on the TV. It kind of surprised my wife and I.
