hi. i recently dropped my bbery 8800 in water and guess should have read the posts before trying to sort it out. though i did dry it with a hair dryer etc = think i tried too soon to put the battery back in and start it back up. doesnt work now - the red light on top blinks though 3 beeps and then 2 more - wondering if anyone knew what this meant and if there is any hope now if i leave it for a few days and try repowering then.
thanks for your help with this.

I had a problem like yours. It took 2 weeks for my phone to fully dry out and start working again. I would consult a local Blackberry technician and ask for advise, that's what I did.

The common suggestion is to take out the battery, SIM and
memory card (if you have either), place it in a ziploc bag of
dry rice (with the battery cover off). Leave it there for 2 - 3 days.
Theory being that the rice will absorb the moisture.

Don't know if that will work for your situation but at this point
    you've got nothing to lose.
