    Slow taps will do the trick. Pause between taps & you would not get the period.

    This seems to be a hardware issue with some phones on the 99xx keyboards so it is not you its the phone it needs to be replaced. Mine started doing it after 3 months of usage. Key rate also may help a little but its a defective keyboard. Just replace the device if you are under warranty.

    Default This aint a hardware issue

    i updated the device software to 7.1.0.523 on my 9900

    and this issue has disappeared!!!!!

    now i type fast without messing with the stops and capitals

    Its driven me crazy, and i am sure to a lot of other users, i registered to just post this solution.

    Update your phone guys.

    This was my experience. Once it started, no OS upgrade or setting would fix it, and I finally had to get a replacement. There's a lengthy thread in the 9900/9930 section about this, titled "Unexplained Periods."

    Some people have had success by forcefully holding and pressing the space bar.
