oh man, I hope it' not never, ugh. I'm worried about using a leak with those reports of the screen going black if the battery drains,

That was fixed. Use 10.3.1.2744. It is official.

Man, I think I might finally do this then, so I find a blitz file for 10.3.1.2744, download it, get sachies, back up phone, then load it?

I strongly recommend you use the autoloader and start fresh with no backup/restore.

But yes, if you must, you can do as you suggest. That method will not erase anything on your device.

No question - if it works well, fantastic!

When it doesn't, it's a mess. Most people don't even know why and assume the phone or the new OS is garbage.

I've updated a few times non-destructive with SACHESI with zero issues and later getting the official OTA update. I would think it would be understood if the non-destructive update is a mess then reload the software and restore with whatever backup was created.

Personally, I have never had a problem with multiple non-destructive updates but always knew in the back of my head that if something went wrong I'd have to reload the software and start from scratch. On the other hand you are likely right, people would rather blame BlackBerry for a bad OS rather than anything on their end.

Definitely better to start fresh rather than non-destructive as you said so you don't carry any bad/corrupt files over that interfere with the update, but in my case and I'm sure many others it's just much more practical to update via SACHESI to an official if you are stuck waiting on a carrier. Chances are it will work fine and, at least for me, is worth it knowing everything stays including settings and whatnot.
