    Hey Guys,

I am a newbie as of yesterday.

Got my BB and was told that there is no possibility of adding GPS?

    Is this true or false?

    Any help on this issue?

Upgrade to a 4.5 OS (go to sticky at top of forum for link) and GPS will work with BBMaps. You need to turn "Location On" under GPS in Options/Advanced Options.

BBMaps should be preloaded on your device. If not, you can add using the App Loader found in Desktop Manager.

Work on 8830, just turn your gps location on and bbmaps should work perfectly!

you can use vz navigator and bbmaps, but no other 3rd party gps software...major bummer...verizon needs to get their head out of the sand.

Upgrades usually go seamlessly other than the time involved. I did lose my Facebook and MySpace icons going from 127 to 135. They were still listed in applications but there were no icons. i dumped them because they were kinda useless. Mobile websites for both work fine.

What version of Google maps are you using? It supposedly doesn't work with the GPS in a Verizon 8830. It only give you your location with an area, not actual as with GPS.

Yeah he's right i had the 2.3.2 version i think and it just gives you an area within so many meters, which was never close to where i was, BBMAPS is the way to go!

Running 3.0.1...it does give an area as you say, but it is very close for me anyway. Still quite useable.
