I googled the list of vendor ID and did not find the ID 608

does somebody knows this vendor ID?

On each of the lists I looked at, however there appears to be no Vendor ID 606, 607 or 608.

yes it is unbranded and unfortunately with the 3g band 1,4,8

Well that narrows it down quite a bit actually. Band IV is AWS, and as far as I know (and my information could very well be outdated), the only countries that have AWS carriers are the US, Canada and I believe at least one South American country (either Peru or Chile.)

It is probably a carrier (SIM) free, unlocked at manufacture device from South America.

I got this from one of Phill_UK's posts. I have a 9810 with VendorId 301. You could very well be right in what you say.

Vendor ID 301 is for Carphone Warehouse UK, Spain, France, and Netherlands.

Sure, but phones (at least BBs) are manufactured in two 3G variations:

Bands 1,4,8 (4 being the AWS band)
Bands 1,2,5

I believe most of Africa is on the 2100 MHz frequency (band 1), so really, it doesn't matter which manufactured variation they choose to receive from RIM, as either way, they are covered.

Sorry Pete, can't help with this one. I've not come across Vendor ID 608 before.
I do have a RIM engineering test unit 9790 at home which is factory unbranded/unlocked, but I'm pretty sure that's not 608 as it has 3G bands 1, 2, 5 & 6 and not 1, 4 & 8 like the OP's. I'll check it out when I return from vacation.

Just on the subject of 3G bands, I noticed something strange when I got my Voda UK 9900. Their previous BB models always had 3G bands 1, 2, 5 & 6 prior to the 9900, but this one had bands 1, 4 & 8. Obviously the UK and most of Europe use 3G band 1 (2100MHz) so that didn't really matter, but I was curious and after a bit of research I think I found the reason for the change. Ofcom at that time had freed up and released band 8 (900MHz) for additional 3G usage in the UK. I believe O2 are now utilising this frequency, and Vodafone were probably trying to future-proof their 9900's with that in mind. This is even more poignant with the recent announcement that O2 and Vodafone are soon to be sharing cell towers. Could just be a coincidence... but it kept me busy for a few minutes

Lucky you that have such kind of problem Here in Ukraine almost all time we are on GSM/GPRS, only big cities have some basic 3G coverage.

In North America it is a hassle because band 4 is not used by as many carriers as bands 2 and 5 are. The biggest GSM carrier in the US (AT&T), and the biggest 3 in Canada (Rogers, Bell, and Telus) all use 850/1900 for their 3G/HSPA+ deployments.

It doesn't matter the number of operators who uses these 3G bands.
If u live in a country where no operator uses these bands then u will stick with GPRS or EDGE in every city of that country.
So no luck in that!
