I'll be traveling to Mexico soon & wanted to bring my 8530. I discovered to my shock & horror that Sprint charges $1.69/minute, plus $.002/kb for data while roaming, and if that weren't enough, no text messaging is available there. So....

My thinking is that I can turn off my wireless network & data so I don't get calls and none of my apps connect & incur data charges. I would then turn on WiFi only, and try to utilize any hotspots to access the internet via the browser, and just use email. My goal here is to avoid any charges.

Is my plan solid? Am I missing anything?

    Thanks in advance!

Probably not. You can just make sure you keep the antenna off and stay on wifi. At least there isn't texting so you can't get charged for that!
