OP, thanks for sharing. Honestly, I thinking going forward, it's going to be harder to WOW customers on the hardware and OS. Look at the media blogs after the release of iPhone 4S, now it's S3.
Although Siri will evolve into something intriguing, and Google Glass represents the future--ubiquity. Technology that's there but a tool out of the way, like an appliance.

not outdated - did not catch something maybe, I just returned an htc1s on ics 4.0.3 the other day. I put a solid day into using it. I was not drinking. ok, maybe just a little - but was I imagining all the notification volumes are linked together for example?

believe me I wanted to love the device, but there was no love, the more I used it the more I could see that it was not a fit. I am not much into tweaking things to get them to do what I want, if I want a sports car I would just get a 997 or a 991, not try and make my S5 to drive like oneBES 5.0.4 | 8700C > 8100 > 8120 > CBW9100|5.0.0.884 |TMO Galaxy T849, 2.3.3,CF:root.unlocked |HTC One S for a day > 9780, 6.722 | - 05-03-2012, 06:30 PM #30If your tired of someone's comments, why not just put them on Ignore

While I believe that what you said has merit, in my opinion, the only "market reality" that matters to me is which device fits my needs. For me, that is my BlackBerry. It is not important to me whether RIM is #1 or #4 or # whatever. I believe that I read that all they want to do is carve out their own niche ..... no comapny can be everything to everyone and it is suicide for any company to try to be. I just want RIM to maintain a credible market presence for my own, admittedly selfish, needs. As long as they appeal to enough people, they aren't going to fold and I think RIM will be around for a long time.

So your rock a device for one day and back to your trusty BB. Nothing like giving it a good ole College try huh?
Mostly all that stuff you listed up there Android can do minus the volume thing. And of course no Android phone besides maybe the RazorMaxx can compete with BB on battery life especially a 9100.....
I love Bb and Android, but it is honestly quite noticeable you didn't give it a fair chance.

You ARE living in a different era. And the OS that you love is dying a slow and deserved death. The only thing I think you are correct about is battery life, but you are using a really old phone with a tiny screen that doesn't use hardly any power, and is also fairly chunky for its size. The 9900's battery is weak, but thinner is where the market has gone. But for you who uses a phone at its most basic, the 9100 is right for you.

Samsung doesn't release sales numbers anymore. One analyst estimated them selling more, others less.
But the one sure fact remains, Apple has 72-73 % of the smart phone profits, so I would hardly call Samsung #1, even if they were actually selling twice as many phones. - 05-04-2012, 02:37 AM #36
the galaxy s3 isnt ugly it just looks like every other galaxy ever made, the design was not really given much thought. For typing it really depends on whats good for you. I know girls that cant live without a physical keyboard and others that can type flawlessly on a touch screen without looking at the phone itself while driving. What has happened is people have gotten caught up in hype. Spending money on what others consider is the best device rather than simply choosing what works for you. Calling each other fanboys for liking what they like. Its not that big of a deal.
But back on subject i think if blackberry comes out with innovative designs for their high powered handsets and great battery life they will be back in the running. Android makers have forgotten that smartphones are fashion statements now, when someone spends 600-700 bucks on a smartphone they want the thing to look like it. Blackberry has designed the best looking phones the last few years, the torch and the 9900 are both damn sexy devices but they were gutless. Samsung has average looking phones with a truckload of power under the hood.
Iphone 5 has to be able to able to overcome this hurdle as well, the main reason the iphone 4s was so disappointing is that people expected a new cool design. But people still snapped it up because they had never owned an iphone before.

I could care less what he likes or doesn't like - Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, BB, etc. However, his post is the equivalent of standing in Times Square for an hour, and then declaring that NYC is a terrible city and you can't understand why anyone likes it.
If he wanted to have a civil conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of devices and OSs, that's one thing. His intent was solely to troll. If you support blind trolling (which it appears you do because of your support for the OP), then good luck in life.

Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.
Personal Attacks
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!
CrackBerry implemented new anti-spam systems recently and my banning statistics have slipped below average. The troll-hunting season is open and I'm bored... I leave it for individual members to decide if they wish to try their luck.

I actually like the look of it, but don't like the size at all. Of course, looks change in person when you can see cheap plastic or strong durable metal, but from the pictures I saw, it's a slick looking device. I just really hope the first BB10 device has a "Blade" like look to it. That would be incredible!

to fill in the troll, did not give it enough time remarks, etc
here are my receipts, purchased 4/27 @ 1p @ sm - went into the shop in oc on 17th @ 1p and got a new sim and they switched me back. returned everything to pop on 4/30 - full refund, which is common if ones gets a device via a store. I am no stranger to android, I have had a rooted tab for years and run gb2.3.3 on it. The only reason for my adventure was to see if ics was different/better than gb as details were scant. I was also excited about the hw as the reviews were mostly positive. the crux of my post was not to put down a device/os that many like, only to say I can do everything I want, which is limited, faster and with more ease on my 9100 and that rim devices have better notifications out of the box. I also have a 9780 and am pretty good with it. I can type very fast on both devices, the diff being is that I don't have to look down @ all on the 9100. there you have it, have a nice weekend.

I can pretty much guarantee you that anything you can do on OS7 I can do on a 2 year old version of Android, easier and better. You need to learn the OS before passing judgement. You quite clearly have shown us you didn't. OS7 might as well be a Palm Pre covered by undergrowth like some ancient ruin deep in the Amazon jungle.
