Default used an htc one s for 24 hrs, just saw the S3 = I think RIMs future is very bright

for individuals that don't want to lug around a micro tablet, don't care about social stuff, taking pics all the time, etc. As long as they continue to target people that want to get things done fast they are fine. ICS has no concept of profiles or notifications - there idea is to tie the volumes together of calls and email, so if you are on call and want to suppress everything but calls you are out of luck. want to take a quick pic and send it? no chance. want to use your device with one hand? good luck. If you love how your bb does things and you really use it then you will hate the other options, I am sure of it. Sorry for the rant, tried to make a psa out of the post but I failed lol. There goes 24 hours of my life I will never get back and people are excited about the S3 - really? I must be from a different era.

It is certain you won't get your 24 hour back but wow, ok. lol. I agree samsung disappointed today and RIM now has a great window of opportunity to get their stuff together and make it back.

I feel like such a moron for wasting my time I could scream. there is a reason my galaxy tab sits in a drawer lol. everyone said, oh you will love it, yeah you can customize it. I get exch on it and then start to watch the battery go down lol. what a joke. get in my car, hook up the bt and the volume is like half of what my 9100 is. forget my 2 short vibrations for friends and 3 med ones for clients - forget ext sd cards, forget removable battery. I am ready to hurt the ones that said try this thing. I am done, I feel better thanks

haha I cant say those 24rs were lose. I say u gained some knowledge.
I like Android nothing against them, but their phones are getting wayyyyyy to big. The S2 was already huge enough. come on just make the resolution of the screen better not a huge tablet/phone

Not trying to be rude here but I really think that s3 looks pretty ugly. Although it doesn't look like people feel the same way about it.
I'm pretty sure though if this was how the first BB10 phone looked, people would not approve of the design.

    Yeah true op.
Just saw a pic of s3 *facepalm* Plain plasticy cheap stupid s*ht.
S2 was a beauty and a gem in itself.
I didn't even bothered to look at the specs of the new Samsung bloatware, the looks made me do a suicide.

But I thank Samsung for releasing their paperweight at this time when rimm had a blast with their os sneakpeek. And oh boy did u see that alpha device and its specs. Good news: its still just gonna get dumped. Imagine how good the final production unit would be. *multiple orgasms*

Then please school me, totally serious

I take my 9100 off charge on friday @ 9a and I still have a charge @ 9a monday - where is that setting on any android?

I take a pic and in one move select email, size, drill down into my contacts and its sent - no way to do this with android this easy

I different vibrations; both lengths and counts for clients and friends - where is this setting?

I have different volumns for calls than my email notifications, where do I set this in ics?

I have a red led, I don't see one on this htc??

I have email that somehow feels rock solid through a bes server, active sync not so much imo.

I don't have a power button that I have to tap all the time, then an unlock, press any key and the bb is alive, enter a repetitive unlock code and I am in. unread email is right on the screen, no need to drill down (simple black theme)

To me basic business functions, making calls, sending email, etc can be done faster on a bb. I use a 9100 because the keys are huge and I can type without looking and with one hand but I also like the full sized ones. I would like to know of one business function an ics device can do equal or better to a bb - not picking a fight, I really want to know this.

Best to wait to see the sales numbers first before making any conclusions. I am not that fond of Android either and was suprised by the latest Samsung entry. However for every BB hardcore fan there is probably an equal number of Samsung/Android fans who will drool over this phone.

True. 9 of the above 10 items have been true for years. Apparently it's either not enough or not what the public is interested in.

Listen, I can see the appeal of the htc1S, its a nice chunk of hardware and I would love to have a camera like it does, but I send what I am eating for lunch and dinner and wine to other friends all the time to make them feel bad and there is no quick way to do it on a ics device from what I have seen. the battery life is a real issue for me, I never even think about the battery on my 9100 and I can get 100% on it in ~20 min.

there is nothing wrong with making existing users happy and there is a good base of them with bb - apple seems to be happy with consumers @ home, ms is clearly interested in enterprise - there is nothing wrong with having a good spot and not doing it all well - the easy people to sell are the existing users. I was very impressed with the V10 demo I saw, I really wish RIM the best success as there are still many loyal users of the product.

Well, given that Samsung has overtaken Apple as the #1 smartphone supplier and also overtaken Nokia as the #1 overall phone provider then it is pretty clear that your wants and needs are against the grain of the vast majority of the consuming public..
All the things you are ranting and whining about (in the wrong forum btw) are hghly desirable features to the 92% of US smartphone users who chose other than BB, not to mention that the majoirty of your perceived issues can be overcome with apps.

and yes I own a BB, and would not seriously consider an iphone or android as my primary phone as yet, but despite this fact it does not make me lose touch with market realities

I"m not knocking your enthusiasm. However Samsung's latest offering, however mediocre it may seem to you or me does not automatically give RIM an opening.

The nine feature you mention are wonderful, but they are not new, they have existed for a while. The numbers suggest that they are not a selling point. The endgame is the sale.

Its not about hw - well sort of re battery life, its about the os and if the os does not support core business functions that individuals care about then it does give them an opening imo. I honestly feel like I have been born again after trying the htc, I have never been so happy with my bb for what it does, that's all.

I'm happy for you. I can only smile and sit in wonder as I guess my fandom for anything just doesn't run that deep as to become born again over a device.

lol I am easy to please! really, you don't have an attachment for any material object that runs that deep? the last time I felt like this is when I changed to look pedals from speed plays, its been a long time, or the first time I got a car with an active suspension. You have a Pearl. Welcome to the 2010s. My GSII has plenty of juice to make it through a day, which is all one needs unless you for some reason without electricity. Push

I take a pic and in one move select email, size, drill down into my contacts and its sent - no way to do this with android this easy

Works the same way with Android. Take pic. Enlarge it, touch screen, click "share" and select option to share. Push

I different vibrations; both lengths and counts for clients and friends - where is this setting?

I look at my screen to see who is calling me. Worthless.

I have different volumns for calls than my email notifications, where do I set this in ics?

I look at my e-mails, usually through the drop down notification bar. Worthless.

I have a red led, I don't see one on this htc??

Perhaps not. The GSIIs for Sprint and Tmobile had one. Others don't. Most overrated feature on smartphone. Worthless.

I have email that somehow feels rock solid through a bes server, active sync not so much imo.

My Gmail syncs instantly, as do Gmail contacts and Gmail calendar. Push

I don't have a power button that I have to tap all the time, then an unlock, press any key and the bb is alive, enter a repetitive unlock code and I am in. unread email is right on the screen, no need to drill down (simple black theme)

I click the power button, and do a quick pattern sweep. Security? Push Speed? Android

To me basic business functions, making calls, sending email, etc can be done faster on a bb. I use a 9100 because the keys are huge and I can type without looking and with one hand but I also like the full sized ones. Don't have the time to answer this, but to each his own. I quickly found myself every bit as productive on my GSII as I was on my BB. Is an older BB probably a better choice for straight up business purposes? Perhaps, but Apple is right there these days with the way that mobile technology is changing and technology in general is being integrated in new ways.
    Stop being a fanboy.

a "look at me" post of personal rant about an android phone belongs funnily enough in the android sub forum..not in the general blackberry discussion forum.

Like all ranters, you miss any and all obvious points.. your personal needs and likes/dislikes are out of touch with the 92% of the market that do NOT buy BB.. you frankly sound like the BGR of BB

I get two days on my Galaxy Nexus. I can imagine if I had on GPRS or EDGE like your phone, but I am using LTE 4G, so i consider that pretty good.

I take a pic and in one move select email, size, drill down into my contacts and its sent - no way to do this with android this easy

This is super simple on my Nexus. I take the picture and the sharing options automatically pop up on the bottom. I dont know how you missed that.

I different vibrations; both lengths and counts for clients and friends - where is this setting?

Download an app for that... Custom ringtones do exist natively

I have different volumns for calls than my email notifications, where do I set this in ics?

    See above

I have a red led, I don't see one on this htc??

Huh?? That phone specific. My Nexus has multiple colors for its LED for different types of notifications and there is an app for that as well.

I have email that somehow feels rock solid through a bes server, active sync not so much imo.

Whats the difference? Activesync works just like BES but cheaper.

I don't have a power button that I have to tap all the time, then an unlock, press any key and the bb is alive, enter a repetitive unlock code and I am in. unread email is right on the screen, no need to drill down (simple black theme)

I just hit power and move the circle to unlock with notifications right there as well.. .So i dont get this one.
