    Hey people, i was thinking....... if u buy a locked blackberry, say from AT&T or T-mobile.. if u re-install the OS deleting the vendor file, will the phone be unlocked?.......really need help on this 1.

    Why does this warrant a POLL??


    Once a BlackBerry is unlocked it stays unlocked.

    Loading the OS has no effect on it.

    It's a BlackBerry not an iPhone.

    Lol...fun with polls!

    I think he's asking if he can unlock his locked phone by deleting the os then installing a new os and deleting the vendor.xml files.

    I don't think it's that easy, or everyone would have unlocked phones.

    No the IMEI is still locked to a the carrier that supplied the phone.

    The VendorID.xml on the OS/PC/ and the VendorID on the phone are used to unlock certain features on the phone.. .. ..

    it has nothing to do with the IMEI and the MEP coding.

    you can have an iphone that is a unlocked but not jailbroken, or a jailbroken iphone that is not unlocked.... i
