I have it but rarely use it. The only benfit is the ability to send stuff to each other, other wise I have regular txt messenging for everyone else since none of my friends really have a bb yet

I don't think I would delete it. I don't have a BB yet but I know two other people who have a BB and also I could share pins with people on the forums.

I use it constantly, mostly with my wife and a few friends, sometimes to answer questions from random CBers.

I had uninstalled it right off the bat immediately, so I chose "Uninstalled". Then someone on here (CB) wanted to chat on it, so I installed it. Still though, I only use it with that one person.

BBM is one of the best things about the BB.
I almost never text or IM anyone anymore. I
use it constantly throughout the day.

I never uninstalled it because even though I don't have any friends on bbm I was afraid it would affect my ability to use yahoo.

I guess that's not really a problem, then?

You can delete BBM without effecting any other apps on your BB.
But it is a great way to get to know other members from CrackBerry, and as BB popularity grows, some of your friends are sure to get one. It really is a great messenger program.

That's another reason why I hesitated to get rid of it. I don't currently have anyone I can talk with, but wanted to leave the option open for the future. I've joined the facebook ap...I know a couple of my friends have bbs but so far they haven't done anything about my invite...

I had deleted it at first to free up memory and I didn't use it but the my brother wanted to use it so I reinstalled it and now I have two contacts soon to be three. Should I ever date again it may be a requirement that they have a bb to use messenger. When my friend gets her curve I may just drop my text plan because I would hardly text after that.

I deleted BBMessenger yesterday, basically for more free memory. Plus I got tired of losing all my contacts everytime I updated my OS. So I just got rid of it.

All you would have needed to do was restore from the backup
you made or the one that the update made and you'd have
    been back in business

Nope I tried that and it didn't work for my last restore. It seems sometimes it likes to restore them and other times it doesnt; at least for me. I might add BBMessenger back anyway.

I found that something similar happend to me.
I've only had to restore the OS once.
And I did a back up, but when I restored it no BBM at all...
    (Among other apps missing)
I still don't understand why this happend.
