ok so my friend was telling me that if i buy a blackberry storm 2 from the states that there is a chance that bbm, facebook, twiter, and other social networks wont work is this true??

what is the model number.. if it is the CDMA model, then your answer is no. is if is the GSM model, then yes, you can. you would need to have it unlocked. you must also ensure your carrier will support it. finally, you will need a blackberry specific data plan with BIS fot bbm, fb, twitter etc... to work properly

this is correct.
you will have to use it on Rogers/Fido because it will only operate on EDGE if you unlock it and use a sim.

You will also have to manually load the service books.

I would highly recommend you just purchase a storm from a 3rd party seller and use it on its recommended network ie: Telus or Bell.

It will save you a lot of headaches!
