I need a Tutorial on how to remove BBM and BlackBerry World from my device. I used to be able to do that with BB7.1.

I don't use any BlackBerry apps and don't use BBM, they are like a cancer on my phone.

All I need is Snap and I'm good.

just reload OS and do not setup BBM, it will never bother you again.

oh and to the OP, clever fix to do the same with Amazon. If this method does actually remove both Amazon apps from the system then you're saving about 40MB of space. That could make room for another BB10 app

It works, it leaves a limited size Amazon chunk on your BB. It's there to cry when you disable Parental Controls.

You know there are Android apps in BBW, right?
Also, ever heard of Snap? Google Play by Cobalt? These apps don't have to be running in the background every time you use an app you downloaded through them, unlike Amazon's resource-hijacking apps.
EXCUSE ME? I was remarking that people who avoid Android apps are a little daft!
My daily driver is an LG G4.....I love the Play Store! Further more, when I used a BlackBerry, I had Cobalt's fix and Snap and Amazon app store and it didn't bother me in the least. The reason I left BB was because I could not get the apps I wanted....Having an extra icon on my phone doesn't scare me. As for resource hogging apps, don't think BB is without them either.

Why are people who want to avoid Android apps daft? I really can't understand your logic behind that, and it appears you only say it because you "love the Play Store." Not everyone needs Android apps on their phone, despite their ubiquity, and not everyone likes Android or Amazon. I think it's completely reasonable for someone to NOT want to be just another Google statistic or a cog in Jeff Bezos' algorithm to make himself richer. Lastly, I think you're intentionally misinterpreting the OP's point here. The motive isn't "fear" of an "extra icon" (come on, that would be really shallow, and it's not at all what the OP said), but a conflict with what that icon represents. Apologies, OP, if I'm also missing your point here.

Points taken but you have to admit that android apps take up more resources significantly than a BB10 app ON the BB10 OS. Another reason why I keep my android apps installed to a minimum. Or 0.

I can't believe people in this day and age treat Amazon app store like its a disease. What's your Blackberry like with NO android apps?
WHatever. Hope this works and doesn't bork your phone.
I have NO one single Android app so far, as a matter of fact I would love to get rid of Android runtime and those trashy amazon icons.

I like your choice of phone.

Has your LGG4 been upgraded to 10f yet?

Had my friends use BBM instead, I'd have loved to remove Android runtime. Alas, they chose LINE.

At first I thought the stickers are nice, but then I find myself keep forgetting they exist. Pictures are nice to fool around, but careful wording is always better.

Since people will ask why I don't convert them to BBM instead:
    1) LINE has desktop app.
    2) That's it.

Seriously, we game on PC a lot, so having LINE open in the background is great. BBM with Blend is also nice, but unless BBM offers what LINE doesn't, I simply can't switch out

Wouldn't it just be easier to hide the Amazon icon in a folder and just forget about it?
Yes agree with you. I have followed your suggestion. Please see my folder in the below picture.

kidcalis this is a great method as daily Amazon notifications drive me crazy and I feel like throwing my phone. However, I do have a question. When I use parental controls and lock out Amazon, my phone screen is orange and all my apps are rearranged and I do not have my wallpaper with hubby and my little dog. We are currently in the midst of a federal election in Canada and my screen is now NDP orange which is unacceptable to me as I am a blue Conservative LOL. Seriously can we lock out Amazon and keep our wall paper and current app arrangment? Thanks.

OK, so do forgive for joining this little "discussion" late. When BB10 was first released, and yes, I was one of those that pre-ordered Q10's in May '13.....there was a dearth of outcries about this phenomenon know as the app-gap .....what with so many cool games in iOS where you could use the touch level sensor on the screen to see if you could blow hard enough to raise Marylin's skirt.....yes, you read that right. Android was all about candy-crush, and live-time social connections.....oy, remember that hottie from Monday night, she's just ping'd in on "whatever the bloody hell that app was called".

Being an addicted leaked OS loader, it wasn't long before we had limited jellybean runtimes, locked-down like the treasury.....but as the code got more compatible, lo n behold, 10.3.1 was released with fully backed jellybean runtime. So, the app-gap suddenly ceased to exist, and with it, taking 'bout 80% of the naysaying rational of why Android was well, I type this a small chuckle, better than BB10.

So with an absolute plethora of apps, games, porn, and anything else in that wide open, free range software market space, fully available to to BB10 users......I have to go on record to say that the only android apps I have on my 10.3.2.2789 OS are Chase, Citi, Amex, Ebay, Paypal, Amazon. BECAUSE none of the rest interest me one iota.

Offsaid, but I'll trumpet one more time - two kinds of people: those who use there phones for work, and those who use for play. And frankly spaeking, as far as market share of joe-blogg walking into a cell-phone store, the reason you don't see much marketing / selling of BB10 devices, is b/c when a company has seven of the G7 governments, 16 out of the G20 governments using your phone, which has the only OS with full clearance to US DoD & NATO......how much do you think joe-shmo blowing at Marylin's skirt factors into RIM's strategy?

one more time - devices for work, devices for solitaire on the subway.

    ******ok, rant over, sorry******

Just did an OS reload and restore from backup, and - lo and behold - the Amazon Appstore was still there, sure, so one app complained when launched about no Amazon Appstore, but hey... the Kindle app started no worries... didn't check for Appstore presence

I for one would like to thank OP for this. I guess option is always good to have. Personally I don't use Amazon App but somehow it keeps sucking battery for God know why. I did not even open it. Whilst I may not accuse the app for mining data, I prefer to remove or disable it to keep the battery running longer. Legitimate enough a reason to me.
