    whoo hoo!

Android and Android Apps really seem to quick temper some of us...

Let's all remind our self's, that there are people who don't use / need / want certain Apps on their phone - for whatever the reason is. And even if one uses Android apps, there are other App-Shops out there... So Amazon is not the only way to go.

I know but I logged in to see what they had to offer me, turns out: nothing. So I had to make sure that every bit of Amazon private data was erased.

Could you maybe tell me, or send me link of that 'Snap', I don't know what it is..

As others have stated, it is not necessary to remove Amazon with Darcy or other tools. It doesn't hurt, but it's still an extra step with no further use. Reboot the device after 'removing' Amazon - it will still be there. Just disable using Parental Controls and that's it. Seems to work similar to the granular controls BES offers. At least with BBM disabled it threw me this while trying to install:

f you think grabbing apks from other random websites is safer than the very existence of the Amazon Appstore on your device, then you need to reevaluate your understanding of security.

    I get your point.

But isn't that along the same lines as the folks touting the hub but need it because they are on Facebook, Twitter and every other social media site on the planet?

Then they spout about superior security when they've given up their privacy details repeatedly across the web.

I don't know why the OP is getting so much grief from some of you. He didn't like something about HIS phone, so he found a way to change it. Then he was kind enough to type up a tutorial detailing what he did, for the benefit of others out there who might be like him. If that isn't you, move along.
    You're right, of course.

In fairness, the conversation just spilled over from a previous thread started by the OP.

In the end, I'm glad that he's happy now. All good. Sometimes it gets a bit frustrating reading yet another "I'm leaving BlackBerry" threat threads, full of hyperbole - which the other one was.

Yea, I don't get it. It was a bit immature and bully'ish. What's wrong with trying to hold on to whatever shred of privacy one has left on their own personal device? Anywho... Happy Friday to you all.

I can get a little frustrated when something I love goes to ... well you know. I checked out that Snap app, what a great alternative to Amazon, I mean for people who like Android apps. It's just all of Google Play into a NATIVE BlackBerry 10 app, which makes it faster.

I get it. Glad things are resolved for you.

And yes, Snap works very well. Another alternative is the actual Google Play Store which has been modified and made available by Cobalt. It has the advantage of being able to purchase apps, supports in-app purchases, and allows the downloading of apps that use associated obb files.

I need a Tutorial on how to remove BBM and BlackBerry World from my device. I used to be able to do that with BB7.1.

I don't use any BlackBerry apps and don't use BBM, they are like a cancer on my phone.

All I need is Snap and I'm good.

Amazon isn't bad. Some apps from there work better than the Google Play equivalent. It's nice to have multiple options for the app-less BB10 platform.

You can disable BB World & BBM in Parental Control and it will disappear from your device.--even after restart:
Step 1: Enable Parental Control in: Settings > Security > Parental Controls. Enable it, and set a passport you like.
Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom and uncheck 'BBM, BlackBerry World, Purchase Content', leave the rest as it is.
Now your BlackBerry is freed of your unwanted software, never to be seen again, but there when needed.
Or, you know delete the core files with Darcy's BB Tool.

I find using the Uninstall option in some Android Apps like Android Assistant then hiding them somewhere is a good solution, the uninstall stops Amazon auto updating all the time (Mine used 155MB in three days downloading without telling me and the Clear Data Button didn't help matters)

I can't believe people in this day and age treat Amazon app store like its a disease. What's your Blackberry like with NO android apps?
WHatever. Hope this works and doesn't bork your phone.
You know there are Android apps in BBW, right?
Also, ever heard of Snap? Google Play by Cobalt? These apps don't have to be running in the background every time you use an app you downloaded through them, unlike Amazon's resource-hijacking apps.
