Turn off BBM?
Hi, is there a way to temporary turn off BBM? When I get visitors, I'm at my work, or I have no time for having chat, I change my BBM status with a Busy-icon, but people keep on sending me BBM-messages.
Is there a way to tomporary shut down BBM without turning the whole phone sound or data off? - 02-02-2013, 04:09 PM

Than I don't hear BBM but if they send me a lot of messages (I have about 500 BBM contacts), it still drains my battery.

No. There's no way to "shut down" BBM.

Re: Turn off BBM
If you turn BBM off, then turn it back on will it not still then download ALL of those built up messages in turn using the same amount of battery it would just at a faster rate instead of over time. I think what you are asking as a hair far fetched, I guess you could uninstall and re-install BBM each day. You could turn your data off, but then you get no e-mails, or put it in airplane mode but the same issue comes up...

Turn off BBM
I've never understood why people don't respect the status' for BBM. I set my BBM to 'busy' and people still send messages. But I just ignore them till later...

Doesn't BBM off a status like "Do Not Disturb" that stops incoming messages?
That would be a handy feature. While it wouldn't stop the BBM message from being sent, the person would get a "X" (or whatever symbol to represent Do Not Disburb) instead of a "D" for delivered (or whatever the equivalent is now in BB10). - 02-02-2013, 05:58 PM

Yes I also don't understand why people don't respect it. In my opinion you can clearly see the busy icon in every chat windows or contact list.

Until I read your whole post, I was gonna ask, why would u wanna turn off BBM, but I see what your saying...no there is no way of turning off BBM. I could see having 500 contacts and how receiving messages from them could really drain your battery. I suggest mayb when u have it set as unavailable, customize it and say "at work, please don't message me". If that doesn't work, you could send a broacast message telling people to respect your status and not message you if you're at work
QNX and LTE, hand me a pen and let's do this.

What is a broadcast message? How it work and what is it exactly?
- 02-02-2013, 06:42 PM #13
When u are in BBM, hit the menu button, then hit new broadcast message and check the "select all" box. What this does is it sends everyone in your message list whatever message you type out, thus letting everyone know the message u send them. Or u can just select the certain individuals who tend to send u messages while you're at work. Hope this help u man
