Apple 'failing to protect Chinese factory workers' - BBC News

Apple, Foxconn all get a mention for unethical manufacturing practices. Don't let the panic for 10.3.1 seem like a big issue in the rush for the latest technology.

That's odd, I work similar shifts for crap pay while having to spend thousands of my net just to do my job and I work in North America. I do get Sunday off though. Do I need "protection"?

Well if it really is comparable to Foxconn workers then yes, we have laws against that sort of thing.

Everything people warned about, resisted and fought for 100 years ago, has come to pass. The corporation has surpassed human rights long ago.

Haven't you heard? Corporations are people too now. Pathetic but true. God forbid a company not being able to crank out record profits every year!

Foxconn employs more people than a million people across its factories in many countries making products for the whos who of consumer electronics so Blackberry has no influence. Foxconn should always do better and large customers like Apple should continue to influence to do that but I'd rather work in Foxconn than in some rice paddy in China.

You realize Blackberry also contracts with FoxConn?

Are they "protecting" these workers? Or do they get a pass because we like Blackberry?

Let's keep blaming corporations (not that they shouldn't be held accountable, they definitely should) when the real issue lies much deeper. The country these factories operate in.
