I've got a Blackberry Pearl 8220, had it a few weeks. For some reason the 'Trackball' will only operate downwards and from left to right, right to left.
Any ideas as to the problem?

Sounds like your trackball needs cleaning.

How does one clean a 'Trackball'?
It can happen yes. You can try a battery pull first. If that does not fix it I would clean it......

This happened to me where I could only go down and no other direction. A battery pull fixed it though.

Thanks all. I pulled the battery, and ‘presto’ my trackball’s back on track.
I’m not sure trying to prise the metal rose off in order to get at the ball is something I’d have the confidence to do – I’m disabled and not very dexterous. If I then damaged the handset, would I be in breach of warranty?
Also, I was very concerned when I thought I’d have to dismantle the thing that this should occur within weeks of purchase, a little disconcerting for the long term.
