Default Torch 9860 Wifi and BBM issue

I bought a Torch 9860 on another forum.
All seemed fine with it until I attempted to use Wifi.

The problem I am getting is if I take the sim out or move to an area in the house where there is no signal the Wifi works great.
The second I put the sim in or get a signal it wont use Wifi.
Been on the phone to Tmobile and Rim for hours but no resolution.

BBM - dosent seem to want to work at all. I have 2 friends pending now for over 24 hours.

Can anyone offer any clues or insight as to what might be going on?

    Thanks.

    Further Update....
I sat the phone on top of my wireless router when I went to answer the door and Wifi is working great.
Moved it 3 feet from wireless router and Nada.

Conclusion - I think there is an issue with the phones Wifi range (thoughts?). Anything within 2 feet of the router and its great. Outwith that and it wont pick up the wifi. (It picks it up according to the Icon but it wont use it.)

Just to clarify I have 1 laptop, 1 Iphone and 2 other appliances that use wifi all over the house so the Wifi is not the problem.

With my 9860, everytime the wifi signal is strong, the BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) is going to use the wifi (the small bb logo will appear right next to the wifi logo), and whenever the phone network is stronger the BIS will use the phone network (the BIS logo appear next to the phone network logo).
But the BIS transfer between phone network and wifi isn't always smooth. Looks like it's not because of the device but it's from the network.

BBM is using the BIS. So probably the messages got stuck in the server because of the BIS transfer between those two networks wasn't smooth.

My experience with wifi and BBs tell me it could do with one of two things, possibly both,, router settings.. Is wps enabled on your router? That could be causing you to randomly lose signal.. You might wanna check the wireless channel as well.. For big range, you want it at 10, short range at 2 and 6 for medium..
