    Hello,

I'm getting the 1c sale this weekend for ATT and I am familiar with the Torch 9810 (slider) and I like it but I'm wondering if I should get the Torch 9850 (full screen).

I don't need to know how great anything else is. It is going to be between these two devices so I can finally get my wife a what is essentially a free BlackBerry. (Oh yeah, she is getting the 100 bucks in free apps and most importantly, I will add her to my BBM and BBM Music)

Has anyone out there had a chance to play with both of them?

    Thanks.

9810 running on OS version .540 is a pretty amazing device. Go with that, you'll still have the full screen plus the physical qwerty option also.

I'm torn between the 9930 Bold and the 9850 torch touchscreen. For me it comes down to keyboard vs camera/screen. A camera is important to me, but ever since I heard rumblings of phone keyboards bluetooth remoting Playbooks, a keyboard jumps in priority. I'd go 9810 if Sprint would carry it. It's got a nice screen, autofocus, and a decent keyboard.

I say go with the 9860 unless you prefer a physical keyboard.

It depents what you like better?
    Physical keyboard or full touch...

I`d go into a store and play with both devices...
Try to type some emails with both and you see what appeals to you.

The 9810 and 9860 have the same specs. so it make no difference from the experience, except the design

It's all preference. Is your wife ok with full touch, or would she be more comfortable with having a physical keyboard option?

A bigger screen wont matter if she can't type on a touchscreen. I personally find the OS7 virtual keyboard to be pretty bad compared to the competition, so if I were to pick between the two I would get the 9810.

If you want a physical keyboard then without doubt go for the Torch 9810. But try the virutal keyboard on the 9860. I have heard that it is excellent if used in landscape mode.

It all comes down to preference. For me, I have tried the virtual keyboards and I don't like them. But I know others who prefer them. Granted, they are unable to type as fast as someone can with a physical keyboard but they enjoy the experience more.

Something worth considering is what are you going to use the device for? If you are going to be sending lots of messages, I'd go for the Torch 9810. But if its more of multimedia than anything else then I'd say go for the 9860.

Either phone you buy is an excellent choice!

9850 ( my wife and i both have one ) we wanted the full screen but were worried about no keyboard ( coming from berry curves and loving them ) . now , I cant see myself going back to actually having to push buttons , I'm faster on the touch lol. and having a full screen is awesome ,great phone imo

Before u buy try out the keyboard on the 9810. At least 4 me it's very small and not comfortable to type on. But that's just me. Both are great devices.

I had the 9800 which was like the 9810. I didn't like it so I traded in my 9800 for the 9860 and I'm in love with the 9860. It's a great phone. The keyboard takes a little bit to get used to but once you get use to it there is no going back to a keyboard.

Plus the screen is way bigger on the 9860

After watching ur videos I'd have to think 9810. You clearly have the concept of a BB keyboard and its shortcuts. If you end uphaving to take this device and get her somerhing else you won't have to learn a new device. I use my 9800 just like I did my 9700. Only w/ a touch screan. Best of both worlds. I have a full screan and a keyboard.

well have both..i think i like the 9810 better..2 reasons..typing on the 9860 sucks for me and it just seems the 9860 for now has to many glitches..i can type all day long on a iphone with no problems but just something about the keyboard on the 9860 sucks and the 9860 and the iphone 3g are just about the same size..oh well hope this helps..i would go to the store and try typing on both..power typing and you will see what i mean..good luck

If you're going to jump on the BBX phone bandwagon you might as well get use to the onscreen keyboard now. The first one being released is a touch screen only phone. I don't care about physical keyboards because they are too small for my fingers. I always go for the bigger screen which translates into to larger buttons to press.

I guess I'd have to disagree. I've had the 9810 from day one and I don't use the slider anymore. I find the touchscreen keypad much faster & mistakes are more easily corrected. Just my opinion tho....
