    Here is a real rumor...

7.1.0.263+ OS and above brings battery performance enhancements to all BB 7 devices. And when I say enhancements I mean unplugged at 845am and only dropped 35% by 1045pm.

Now that Blackberry OS 7.1.0.267 is out to the rest of us, what do you guys think of the update? Does your BB 7.1.x Device have a greatly improved battery life?

I will be testing this on my 9900

EDIT: That Poll should read "OS 7.1.0.267" not "OS 7.1.0.26+"

I understand that. I was replying to op stating it avaible to everyone now. Its not so there's still going to be miced opinions on the version. As shown in other threads people are installing this on carriers that don't support the features or devices that don't either. So they say its crap. Well the best thing to do is wait until its truely avaible to everyone. Unless there's features I've missed, att is one of the big providers that support the features. A lot of people don't use leaks so we have until the release to get their input.

I don't know about the others, but .267 just came out yesterday for the 9900. There is absolutely no way to make a fair and accurate comparison of battery life on a BB OS that's only been in use for a day. Every one of my BB's has required about three-four reboots and several days of charge/discharge cycles before the OS 'settles in' and any kind of measurement can be made. The last two upgrades on my 9900 each took a week before battery life became consistent and normal from one day to the next.

As most hybrid builders know, Every New OS load comes with a "setting in period". This is because new apps are resending information, the apps are giving itself permissions etc etc.

After this period of usually a day, the battery is normal.

The entire OSBB team decided not to load any new OS's because when a group member joins, everyone in the group will have lag and battery issues.

We will be done tomorrow. Most group members are seeing improved battery live with the battery saving mode turned to 100%

I don't think people are thinking about this feature for what it is. It reduces performance. Personally I might use it for special occasions but to think it will extend your day to day routine is wrong. Maybe if your routine only includes some very mundane things that don't tax the phone but then that isn't really why we bought 9900's is it? Set it to "Always On" and do an alt-shift-del to restart your phone and see what happens.

I hope I'm wrong about this.

I guess my 9900 is still "in running" condition (updated 20H ago, 2 battery pulls).
The feeling I have is that my 9900 baby bottle is bigger. With a moderate activity today and it loaded 100% this morning, info&stae of the terminal state battery at 90% after -say- 10 hours.
Again, only a feeling, no vote yet.

I installed last evening. Great battery life! 2.4% discharge rate idle, 4.5-5% usage! Big improvement over stock official 7.0.585. I'm happy with my 9900's battery now.

I started using my 9900 at 10am and it was spent at 5pm. This was with heavy usage during that entire time. I will let you guys call it. That good?

This release gave me 11hours today of light use with 45% battery remaining. This is twice as good as what I was getting with stock att os. I hope this continues.

I used to have high drain rate at about 5-7% on .205 but now with .267 I'm gettin 1-2.9% drain rate. Huge improvement so far for me.

27 Hrs after the full charge (BT/wifi ON + media server ON):
A few calls, some BBM, 2 hours in the car (BT linked) and still 55% left.
So for my average use, this means something like 2 days autonomy ... wasn't the case previously (an didn't hit yet the 20% for the eco mode ...)

Well, I've just hit 18hrs off charge on my 9900 and I have 40%left. 60+email, 30 txts, 40-50bbm and about 30IM's not to mention 30mins of phone calls and an hour of browsing on 3G and wifi. Very happy with that.

Edit: I have Battery Saver set to Always.

I don't know what it does but it's fricking brilliant. I never had a graph like this and this is with a lot of usage, downloading apps and rebooting quite a few times.
