I was reading through the droid pro forums on android central. Pretty much across the board people said that RIM/BB won't die. Most people agreed that there was a market for all.

What's weird is that more droid fans on those forums believe that RIM has a chance, yet droid users on these forums freak out about RIM.

    Interesting no?

Nothing's going to kill BlackBerry, they have too much faith built up in the Enterprise environment. It costs a lot of money to set up a BES no companies are going to switch away from that, not for a good while at least.

This may certainly appeal to BB users in the consumer market though. The people who just couldn't give up their vertical hardware QWERTY now have a Droid of their own.

Will it kill BlackBerry? Definitely not in Enterprise. In Consumer? It won't kill them, but it may earn some more converts.

IPhone wasn't exactly a "Blackberry killer" because it didn't have a physical keyboard. The reason why many people think this might hurt (not completely get rid of but definitely affect) the current BB customers is because it has a BB-like (in terms of layout at least) keyboard.

And of course, it will not completely decimate the BB market, because people who need BES will still use them. But it might sway many of the casual users who want a really good keyboard.

That's cause most follow the rule of not crapping in their own back yard. Instead, they come here to dump on BB.
