For new customers the price will be 199 or 299. For customers who are not eligible for upgrade but want to extend their contract the price is 399 and 499. The 599 and 699 price is for those who are not eligible and don't want to extend their contract (which I believe with be the later launch).

The prices are $199 / $299, for new customer activations and upgrades. The retail price of the phone is new and must have just came out, as previously they did not even have one. So you were SOL if you didn't have an iPhone or upgrade available.
Although, if iPhone 2 is like iPhone 1, retail price of phone may extend your contract 2 years, anyways.07-01-08 02:13 PMLike 0 - I actually work for AT&T Mobility, thanks.

The reason I ask is because when I was with ATT some time ago, their ads for some phones use do advertise the price for a phone at (for example let's say..$300) and to get that price; you had to sign a 2-year agreement. However; I remember you had the choice of signing for a 1 year contract also..but instead of getting that $300 promo price; you'd instead have to pay $375 since you're only signing up for one year. So basically you weren't coming out paying the cheapest you could ($300) for the phone; and not the most expensive for it either (say $450)...but instead somewhere in the middle at $375.
So what I'm asking is...do they have any promo 1-year contract agreement on new activation pricing for the iPhone? Or is it ONLY a 2-year contract agreement on new activation price for the iPhone that you see for either $199 or $299??
