Thorsten's first words on Jan 30 ....
I hope he is working with the advertising group. Because if he nails the opening on Jan 30, it will be all over the internet.
I think something like this:
"Today is the most exciting day of my life". Thing is, it has to be genuine. And i think given the circumstances, it would be genuine.
With media everywhere, this is a huge first impression and if he nails it, it is a huge free advertisement.

I agree and I think the entire presentation will be thoroughly coached and thoroughly rehearsed as is evidenced by Heins major improvements in this area since his first earnings call. I can't imagine that Boulben will allow one unscripted, unrehearsed syllable to be uttered. They simply can't afford a single mis-step.

Thorsten's first words on Jan 30 ....
He walks out with a mic in hand. Stands in the middle of the stage and turns the mic sideways and drops it like he just won a rap off. Then points to the screen and the commercials air and release dates scroll across the screen.
No words just actions.

Re: Thorsten's first words on Jan 30 ....
He will enter using a Z10 typing with one hand using the flow keyboard and have it viewable on the large projector screen .. He would be typing something like "So yeah, I advise you to keep calm as what you are about to see is gonna change the mobile industry. And yeah security please escort the BGR crew out of the building, now Let's rock and roll this"

I think he should go with "It was a dark........ and stormy night......" OR one of these:
"A funny thing happened on the way here"
"Is this thing on?"
"Speaking off the top of my head"
"I don't know why I have been asked to speak" - 01-28-2013, 02:39 AM #13

I hope he says "Ladies and gentlemen, I am going to turn the floor over to ......."
We don't need someone who has English as a second language doing the presentation. He is not that dynamic either. Few people outside of CrackBerry know who he is.
Recognize his limits and let him orchestrate the event but not be the main presenter. - 01-28-2013, 07:37 AM #17
Thorsten's first words on Jan 30 ....
I somehow thought it'd be:
"Good afternoon, thank you all for coming." - 01-28-2013, 07:43 AM #18
"Hello. My name is Thorsten Heins. I am the CEO of Research In Motion. As you all know, we make BlackBerries. I know many of you were disappointed in how long it took us to get our new ecosystem launched. So was I.
What you have to understand though, is that we have built a whole new ecosystem, from the QNX micro-kernel up. This includes not only the BB10 operating system, which is second to none in multiprocessing capabilities and security, but also the new BlackBerry store that will allow you to buy music, movies as well as over 100,000 third party apps (and that number is growing daily).
Think about that. An entire ecosystem in 2 1/2 years. One that has been certified to be FIPS compliant, the only mobile OS to date that has that certification.
Over 100,000 apps developed by third party developers.
Now I am going to turn the floor over to Vivek to give you some more information about the new ecosystem." - 01-28-2013, 07:43 AM #19

Do you know how much ridicule Apple got over a rumour about how their CEO wasn't going to do one of their events?...
I would rather Thor do it, he deserves it, he took this company at a bad time, and made the best of what they have.
The product that he dedicated his and his teams time to is finally ready, why not let him present?
Now here is my opinion on what he should do: *Walk on stage* Hello everyone, I am very excited for what we have to show you. This may be the most exciting day of my life, but I know you guys don't want to hear me talk! Let me call out Vivek Bhardwaj to the stage.
EDIT: Also, I hope he doesn't clap to his own product again. Apparently people didn't like that...Last edited by r0v3rT3N; 01-28-2013 at 07:56 AM.

Thorsten's first words on Jan 30 ....
if he doesnt walk out to the imperial march then the rimpire have missed a trick.
he can then poke fun at the recent samsung ad with "i find your lack of IM chat....disturbing"
and to end it all "everything is proceeding as i have forseen!"
can anyone tell that i like star wars?

"My name is Thorston, and this is my company. Pretty awesome right? Well, things are about to get a whole lot more awesome. This is going to change the industry and the way we do things in our everyday life; as we know it."

He needs to go out there with Thor's hammer, and smash a GS3 and an iPhone 5 that would be onstage. Then, have a Z10 and X10 rise from the stage, taking the other devices places, while a lightning effect is going on behind him. Then, have the screen behind him say "BlackBerry 10, Smashing the completion!" and then display the release dates.
In RIM we trust!
